Day One Of The Film Festival
The Toronto International Film Festival or (TIFF) began last night and unlike the last couple years when I have had to sneak in to film screenings and parties if I wanted to go to them, this year I am in one of the films being screened at the festival so it looks like I'm on a couple of guest lists and will be invited to a few functions. It's weird!
To actually have an invitation to the screening of the opening film and the party afterwards was a first for me. That being said I blew off the screening so that I could spend the hour with Martin Streek live on the radio last night. It was a great way to kick off the festival....
I just read the blog about the radio thing tonight, that's awesome! Several months after the guy's from The Edge's morning show were making fun of you, you come back to the station with your show back on the air, promoting the film your in that's showing at the Toronto International Film Festival!
HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!?!?

Martin Streek is a very cool guy and I really appreciate that he let me hang out with him last night during his radio show on 102.1 The Edge. We had a ton of laughs, it was good fun! Life is way too short and this business is way too mind boggling most of the time for me to be anything but jacked up about the good stuff that occasionally happens to you as your pluggin away and pushing onward!
I'll probably go on Martin's show again sometime in the near future and you know what, its really, really, really nice to know that he would want me to.
You know what else? I had way more fun giving out free Pizza Pizza to people with Martin Streek than I had at the big fancy opening gala party I went to after that.
Here is a picture of me that someone took around 12:30am last night at the party.

Ok maybe this is me in Chris Nash's film "Day of John" but I pretty much wanted to kill myself last night at this party. See none of my friends really give a crap about going to these parties filled with people acting cool because they somehow got invited to this big party. Chris and some of the other guys didn't go because they wanted to check out the midnight screening of a film Sara Silverman is in. So I was pretty much on my own which pretty much sucks. There were people I ran into that I know or who know me but that's no fun. That's just schmoozing!
Maybe sneaking in to these parties and functions was always what was fun about them. I'm looking forward to Sunday nights screening of Nash's film. It would be great to see some of you guys there.
And now on to day two of this years Festival...
Later,
JR
