Me and all the cool kids....
I'm meeting a friend of mine tonight for a couple drinks at this swanky place down town in Toronto called the Spoke Club. I guess you have to be a member to get into this place and by buddy who is a well known photographer in Toronto is, which means he can bring me in as his guest. The clubs members are made up of people in the entertainment industry and the arts which makes this club ultra cool I guess(lol)!
I always feel a little out of place around people in the industry and I would never want to be one of those Canadian actors who always seem to want so badly to be famous like American actors and television personalities get to be.I suppose they forget for some reason that they will never be famous like that,we can't be,we are Canadians living and working in Canada.
Well, its not that we are Canadian, its just that we are on Canadian Television or are in Canadian made movies that no one ever gets to see.
There are plenty of famous Canadians but I can't think of too many who got famous until they make it big in the USA. Tom Green is on my show this weekend. He is a famous person now but where would he be right now if he didn't make it big in the States. He wouldn't be rich that's for sure and getting rich is way more important than getting famous if you ask me. I think it would really suck if you got really famous but after your moment in the spotlight fades, you had to go get some job that you hated and for the rest of your life although people still recognize you it is only ever a constant reminder of the life that could have been but it really wasn't because you are about to go back to some shitass job you hate but you gotta do it because you still need the money to live ,pay your bills and all that kind of crap.
Fame without the money isn't something that I would wish on anyone I don't think. Well maybe a couple people but this isn't the time to mention names! I'll save that for another blog!
I'll be sure to let you guys know if anyone cool is hanging out at the Spoke Club tonight. My sister was talking with Sharon Stone yesterday so I know that she is in town. Maybe she will be there. Maybe we will hang out and watch my show on TV and I'll lie and tell her that Tom Green and I are good friends to see if that helps me fit in with her crowd.
Tom and I aren't friends by the way. It's not like we are enemies or anything like that or he would have never agreed to come on my show but some of you that have emailed me seem to think we must know eachother and we are friends.I had no idea some of you think I must be that dialed in but as a matter of fact, we don't even really know eachother at all. I've only ever met him one time which you can see on TV this weekend.
We did end up hanging out for a while after we taped the stuff for the show which ended up being kind of an awkward and surreal couple of hours for me.
Picture some kid standing between Tom and I saying over and over again "holy shit this is crazy, I'm standing between Tom Green and JR DIGS, this is crazy, holy shit" and then picture Tom kinda looking over at me thinking who the "F" is JR DIGS.
Ya it was kind of weird for me because after all this time being compared to this now famous celebrity,I'm still just some schmuck that most people haven't even heard of.....
What are ya going to do,it was nice to finally meet him for sure and it was very cool that he came on my show.I have no idea if he would ever do it again so make sure you check out the show this weekend if you think it might be cool to see Tom Green and I together on the same show just hangin out and having a few laughs.
Jeremy Klein is on the show with us tonight as well and for those of you who know how into skateboarding I use to be, you will know how amazing this was for me to actually meet him in person.Dam I use to sell alot of his boards in my skateshop back in the day. I think Jeremy might have even bought me a beer at one point that night but if he had any idea how much money I made back in the day selling his boards I'm sure he would have expected me to be buying him the beer. That being said, all the money I make all those years in my shops selling his boards eventually got pissed away paying for airtime to get my dam show on the air over four yeras ago.I guess it was cool that he bought the beer after all....(lol)
As for the constant comparisons to Tom Green all these years, obviously I have some opinions about that but I'm interested to hear what some of you have to say about this subject." What you guys have to say Wednesday" is only five days away.. .......
I had better get rolling here, later guys, have a great weekend.
