Since 2001, JR Digs has been a fixture on late night television in Canada as host of his own weekly comedy series, "The JR Digs Show". In that time, JR's creative antics and innovative interactions with members of his community has provided his viewers with unforgettable moments of uproarious laughter which continue to bring families and fraternities together in front of their televisions every weekend, in celebration of their newest cultural icon.
Over the course of the series, the once "ugly duckling" of paid programming has matured and blossomed into the "sexy swan" of late night Canadian comedy; and in 2006, JR Digs triumphantly returns to network television with his brand new series called IN THE CAN with JR DIGS.
The show is a celebration of "creativity" and "high ambition" as JR gives back to his fans, by allowing them the opportunity to shoot their own short films which are featured at the end of every episode.
Each show consists of exclusive behind the scenes documentary footage of an unknown, and aspiring filmmaker hard at work; struggling to overcome various on-set adversities while desperately trying to have their entire film shot in only two days!
They have no budget and they have no stars; just their reckless enthusiasm and the chance to have their work aired on national television and seen by Canadians from coast to coast.
So, move over Norman Jewison, David Cronenberg and Atom Egoyan. One day, one of these talented unknown filmmakers could become the next BIG name in Canadian filmmaking; and all because they got their film IN THE CAN with JR DIGS!
