Meet Russ

Hey guys, I hope everyone is enjoying the good weather that is finally here. For the last few years, summer has traditionally been the time of the year that I go out of my F'n mind trying to shoot footage and get new shows on the air. It looks like things are starting to shape up to be another one of those summers.

I found out a few weeks ago that Pizza Pizza and another major beer company are 100% on board to sponsor the show if I get it on the air, which is a really big deal. I have major sponsors who want to see the show on the air, a pretty decent sized fan base that want to see the show on the air again this summer and the only thing left to do now is convince the network that all those good ratings and corporate dollars can't be wrong!

I'm starting to feel pretty damn optimistic, guys, and it's a really great feeling! It looks like for sure the show will be back on the air, maybe even within a few weeks. Awesome, eh!?

I delievered the first show to the network last week and will be delivering another one again this week. They have asked me for a few shows to have a look at. Putting actual shows together again has been a lot of work, but it's been fun.

With all the editing that needs to be done these days, I had to hire a second editor so that Branden doesn't have to work the same kind of 70 hour weeks that I have to in order to get these shows put together each week. Russ, who up until recently, has only been working on the website with me, is now helping me edit footage and even shooting a lot of it with me!

Branden shot a little footage of Russ a few minutes ago and it made me laugh, so I thought I would show it to all of you.

Click here to have a look!

Later guys, I should get back to logging footage of exploding watermelons.

Kids These Days

Sorry that I have been out of the loop a little this past week guys, but I've been really preoccupied. I've been super busy and I also got some sad news from a good friend of mine that his dad passed away earlier in the week. I knew his dad very well, he was a great man and we will miss him very much!

I'm off right now to shoot some footage with my cousin Jonah. We are going to explode a watermelon that will be strapped to the top of his head. He performed this stunt on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno a few months ago and it looked really cool. We'll probably blow up some other stuff as well while we're at it, it should be fun.

The other day on our way to shoot something with Tony from Tony's Corner, some kids recognized me and we ended up shooting some footage. Usually that's how new segments get created. You just start shooting footage of stuff for no real reason and a good idea comes out of it. In the future, if you end up seeing a segment called "Kids These Days", you can say, "Hey, I know where that idea came from!"

The Kayvon Game

I hope everyone had a great long weekend. It was another work weekend at the cottage for me, but the bunkie is almost completely built now, which is awesome. I look forward to showing all of you some pictures of it after we get the last window put in next weekend.

I haven't gotten too many pictures from you guys from the long weekend. What up? Check my blog from Friday if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I would like to start putting more pictures of you guys on the photos page, so people don't get completely bored of looking at crapy pictures of me all the time when they go there. It's fun for me to get you guys more involved in the website, which reminds me, I promised to announce the winner of "The Kayvon Game" today.

And the winner is..............Phil Dewan from Vancouver, BC

It was tough to pick a winner, so we chose ten people who all had pretty good descriptions of Kayvon and we put the names in a hat and Phil was the one who got picked out of the hat. Here's Phil's description of Kayvon:

From: "phil dewan"
To: <jr@jrdigs.com>
Subject: kayvon game
Date: Tuesday, May 10, 2005 1:41 AM

How can you possibly describe Kayvon?

You can't describe Kayvon! Anyone who experiences Kayvon is immediately at a loss for words! Kayvon is a walking reality show, one of those shows where you are flipping the channels and you come across it and your reaction is "what the fuck is this" but for some reason you cant bring yourself to change the channel. Many people may be put off by his overwhelming charisma, but Kayvon is a brilliant and remarkable person. He is one of Toronto's great personalities. You cant help but have a smile when you think of Kayvon, plus he has the greatest peach fuzz moustache you have ever seen in your life!

Phil Dewan
Vancouver, BC

Good job Phil, as soon as I can track down Kayvon, I will record our phone conversation and have him personally congratulate you himself as only Kayvon could possibly do! Look for that phone conversation to be put here in my blog later this week sometime.

Thanks to all of you who played the Kayvon game and I hope you all have as much fun playing the next game, whatever it ends up being.

Later guys,

JR

The Fourth And Final Chapter

It’s the first long weekend of the summer and I’m sure most of you across the country have plans to go camping or to a cottage or a barbeque or are planning a picnic or something like that! Maybe you are planning on going for a couple of good long walks with your dog, or on a blind date like my new friend Manon, whatever it is that you are planning, just make sure it involves being outside!

It’s awesome to finally be able to go outside again in the sunshine. For that matter, make plans to be outside even after the sun goes down. Don’t go to a movie this weekend at a theatre, go to a drive-in! If it’s been a while since you have been to a drive in, trust me, you will thank me for this advice once you are there. Drive-in’s are awesome and you can take your own food and your dog in case you just finished going for that long walk!

One thing you should all do this weekend while you’re camping or eating BBQ chicken is tell everyone about www.jrdigs.com and my blog! Take pictures of yourself telling people if you want, or better yet, make a crappy little sign and stick it on a post somewhere and take a picture of that. Email me your long weekend pictures next week and I’ll start posting them on the site here. It would be great to have faces to go with the emails you guys send me! Keep them coming and keep telling your friends about my blog. It’s cool to have so many new people checking it out these days!

Have a great long weekend everyone. Play safe and be nice to people. If you live in Ontario and happen to be in Muskoka this weekend, say hi to me if you see me. I’m heading up there on Saturday morning again, just like I did last Saturday morning! I hope you have all enjoyed the vlog mini series of last week’s trip up north.

Click here to see the final and fourth part of that vlog!

“Stay gold” as my friend Arch would say.

An Afternoon With Andrew!

Hey guys, imagine if you will,an afternoon at the circus. Now imagine if you can,an afternoon with Andrew the psycho fan! Now try to imagine an afternoon with all those crazy circus people and Andrew the psycho fan! Now you know what my afternoon looked like,it was crazy!!! It really was!

I just got back from dropping Andrew off because he wouldn't take the bus home with his face covered in makeup. A clown at the circus painted his face to look like one of the dudes from KISS,it was hilarious. We were shooting a segment with Andrew today and were getting lots of great footage until Andrew basically got us kicked out! I'll post some pic's a little later on tonight if I have a little time.Right now I gotta get some food in me, I'm starving!

Yesterday I put part 2 of my trip up north with my mom in my blog for all of you to check out. It's kind of boring footage I guess but that's what I like about doing this blog. I never feel like I always have to be funny or completely entertaining like some sort of clown at the circus(lol)! My vlogs can just be an honest look at what I was doing or what was happening on any given day! For example, last Saturday I took my mom up north to the cottage and shot some video. I definitely wasn't trying to turn it into anything hilarious or amusing,I was just shooting video of are trip up north and now it's a mini series(lol)!

Sure, there is a little bit of suspense building towards part 3 when we all get to find out if my mom freaks out on my dad or not for not having everything fixed up at the cottage but that's nothing that I manufactured for all of your amusement, it's just what happened!

That being said, to watch part 3 of my Road Trip Up North with my mom, it's as simple as clicking here.

Part four will be in Friday's blog and then it's back up to the cottage again on Saturday to finish building the bunkie!

Later guys,

Movie Night!

It's Wednesday night and we all know what that means! It's my movie night and tonight Star Wars Fans get to dress up in stupid costumes and go to the movies because at midnight, Star Wars is on the big screen again!

I'm not guna see Star Wars tonight but I do have to fly, or I'll be late seeing the trailer for Star Wars and some of the other trailers I want to see.

Yesterday, I posted part one of the video I shot while taking my Mom up to the cottage on the weekend.

Road Trip With My Mom

So for the last few days I've been working at the cottage with my Dad, helping him build a bunkie. My Mom and Dad got back from Florida three weeks ago and my Mom has been staying at my sister's house until the cottage was fixed up a little more, and the water got turned on, etc.

They sold their house last summer after my Dad retired and bought this cottage up north, where they now plan on living for six months of the year. They will spend their winters at their place in Florida from now on. Sounds like a pretty good set up, doesn't it?

On Saturday, I drove my Mom up north and shot some video of our fun little road trip.

Click here if you want to check it out!

If It's 3:00am do you still call it Friday Night?

I'm about to head to the cottage for the weekend. I didn't get much sleep last night but I had a pretty laid back night. I shot some video at 3:00am in the morning for some reason.

Click Here! to check it out if you want to!

Have a great weekend everyone

Piss-Drunk & Naked!

Survivor is on TV tonight, but The Amazing Race is the only reality show I've been watching over the last few months, so I doubt if I will feel compelled to kick back and watch the boob-tube tonight!

I take that back, I watched an episode of The Surreal Life a while ago and Mini Me was piss drunk and naked, driving around on his scooter thing. It was hilarious, he took a piss in the hallway and passed out on Peter Brady! I don't even know when that show is on, but if I did, I would probably watch it. The one episode that I happened to see was really funny, maybe it's not always like that, I don't know, but I would probably watch a few episodes to find out.

I wonder if a lot of reality TV stars think that their short-lived moment in the spotlight will propel them to a lifetime of fame and fortune. It obviously doesn't work out that way for most of these people and they must really miss being on TV, Click here to watch! You will see what I mean!

What's next, are people going to start letting themselves be video taped while taking a poo and put that on TV?

So when is The Surreal Life on anyway?

Fun Games, Remember Those Things?

Hey guys, remember those fun games we were playing here on the site? The Kayvon Game ends this Sunday at midnight! Ryan Worrall won the first game we played by guessing which girl was which in the picture that was sent to me by one of the girl's friends. The picture was taken at a film festival party I was at, remember? Then we started playing the "What should the prize be?" game! I recall picking a winner, but I never did tell you all who it was or what the prize ended up being for winning the first game. Bev ended up winning that game, and here's the email she sent to me...

Hi JR! My name is Bev. Maybe a good prize would be an autographed picture of you, I think people might like that. Autographs are always cool. I wish people asked me for autographs, but they don't. You could even put your autographed picture in a frame made out of shells! Or else you could maybe send them a puppy, people like puppies. Or else, the prize could be a potato. A wise person once said "You grow up thinking everyone is gonna like you, then reality hits. People love potatoes" so I think people might like a potato for a prize. I'm good at thinking prizes up, don't you think? Or maybe not, maybe I just like to babble and talk to famous people such as yourself. Also maybe you could write a song about the winner and put it on your website. People like songs about themselves. If I was the winner I would want the song to be about palmtrees because I really love palmtrees. It's too bad we don't have any palmtrees here in Winnipeg, that would be really cool. Maybe you could give the winner a palmtree, or at least a song about a palmtree. Or you could give me a song about a palmtree, people might like that. Well anyways, those are my ideas. But now I better get back to livin the dream, going to university and being dirt poor. Oh wait, that's not my dream at all, oops, that's my reality (boring). Ok, hope you think of a good prize soon! Winner Palmtree, catch ya later

Sincerely,
Beverley J.
(winner palmtree)

Congratulations Bev, a potato is really a good idea for a prize and as it turns out, Ryan works at Tim Horton's not too far from where I live, so one of these days I plan on taking a drive to get a coffee and delivering him his prize in person. Maybe I'll even video tape it and stick the footage on the site here. I haven't had the time to post too many Vlog's lately and I know how much you all like to see me putting video in my blogs. That being said, I found the footage I shot of the Survivor dude last year in Montreal. Check back a little later and I'll have it online for you guys to look at. Survivor is actually on TV tonight, so it's a good night for all of you Survivor fans to be checking out my blog, if you want to see what happens to these people after the spotlight fades!!!

Later guys, JR

Fading Fast!

Hey Guy's,I feel bad because I've only had time to make new post lately when I've been completely burnt out and ready to crash for the night! It's tough to be funny or amusing or have anything interesting to want to comment on when all you want to do is crash for the night! I'm only going on a few hours of sleep right now.

I've been working really hard on a bunch of different stuff and it looks like life might be staying like this for a little while longer! I just spent another Wednesday night looking through and logging tapes instead of going to a movie! That's two weeks in a row without my Wednesday night movie, that sucks! I did make the time to watch Tuesday night TV last night though! The two hour finally of The Amazing Race last night was a good one I thought!

Rob and Amber finished second which meant they were in it until the very end which was cool and the couple who won the million bucks I'm sure could use it way more than Boston Rob and Amber could. They are famous now so they can make tons of cash doing commercials and stuff. The couple who won the money would have faded back into their normal lives knowing they were that close to having a million bucks. That would be tough to take I think! I'm glad they won. They made the big comeback at the end and stayed super positive all along,I like that kind of spirit. It would have sucked if that other couple would have won. They hated eachother by the end of the race. They would have each taken their half of the money and that would be it.Thats no good!

I thought the show was very well put together and it was fun to watch each week! I watched Deadwood on Sunday night so it worked out perfect for me.Deadwood is on at ten oclock so if I hadn't already watched the episode on Sunday night I would have missed it on Tuesday night because The Amazing Race was on for Two hours starting at nine!

I should dig up some footage I shot in Montreal at the Just For Laughs Festival last year of one the guy's who was on Survivor! Some of these reality TV people sure miss the spotlight when it's all over I tell ya! I won't say any more,I'll just find the footage and put it in my blog later,it's really funny!

Ok I gotta crash now,I really have to,I'm fading fast.........stay tuned...

Are Bedbugs real?

Hey guy's,I just got home,I'm really bagged and I know that I kinda promised you all a little earlier today that I would stick some footage in my blog here tonight of my Mom talking about Mothers Day but I can't!

I didn't end up having time to stop by to see her so I didn't shoot any footage of her talking about all the fun we had on Sunday and me almost dieing and other stuff like that!(lol)!
I did hook up with my cousin though! He's got a really busy schedule these days so we had to nail down a few dates to shoot some footage of us blowing up things on his head like he did on The Tonight Show a few months ago! If you guys have any suggestions for things you would like to see strapped on to the top of his head and then blown up,let me know.

I really gotta crash now so sleep tight everyone.Don't let those bedbugs bite or anything like that.

JR

I almost died yesterday, again!

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a great weekend and a nice Mothers Day! We went to Niagara Falls for the afternoon and then my sister made an awesome meal that we ate at around 7:00pm which was very delicious. Half way through dinner I started choking on a piece of roast beef and then spent 20 minutes in the bathroom trying to vomit, to dislodge the chunk of meat stuck in my throat! My Mom got all upset and thought I was going to die but I didn’t and everyone ended up having chocolate cake for dessert including me!

I think maybe I’ll end this blog entry right now and scoot over to my sisters house where my Mom is and get her to tell all of you about Mothers day herself. I’ll video tape her talking about the nice flowers I bought her, then I’ll put the footage on my blog here later on tonight. I can’t get it on the site right away because I’ll probably take my Mom with me to visit my cousin Jonah and we wont be back until later on tonight. I need to meet with him regarding a segment I want to shoot for the show. My Grandpa and I aren’t the only ones in our family who have been on T.V. Jonah was on The Tonight Show with Jay Jeno a few months ago with a watermelon on his head that he proceeded to blow up! It was awesome!
We are going to shoot a bunch more of that kind of stuff for the show and I need to figure out when he has time to do it. I’ll tell you more about it later when I have more time!

If I’m going to shoot some video of my Mom talking about Mothers day I gotta get moving. I'll post the video later on tonight.

Later guys,

JR

Hello JR, it's Andrew!

I got some awesome news today guys. I can't really talk about it yet because well, I just can't! I guess it's kind of stupid to even mention it if I can't even tell you what the good news is but I'm pretty stoked right now and so I thought I'd at least mention that I got some big news!

Something I can tell you all about is the video I shot of myself calling Andrew the psycho fan. Usually if I dont call him back he just keeps calling and leaving messages which is why I always call him back I guess! Plus everyone loves Andrew the psycho fan. Have you all seen the video on the new homepage that was shot the day I first met Andrew?

Wednesday Night At The Movies

Wednesday night's I usually go to the movies! I don't go Tuesday night's because that's the one night of the week when all the TV shows I'm really into are on! The old folks lost last night on The Amazing race which is good I guess,I couldn't stand that woman's screechy voice yelling "Meredith"any more!

I love watching TV!Over the last few years,I pretty much had to work on the show non stop and so taking an entire night off meant not getting the show delivered on time that week.Even the re-cut,re-aired,repeat episodes required way too much editing and work to take an entire night off to do something other than work on the show.
When one of the managers at Famous Players gave me a gabillion pass's to get into the Movies I while back,I finally started taking one night every week off so I could go see a flick with my girlfriend!Partly because it was free I guess and I was completely broke and partly because the two hours of mindless entertainment every Wednesday night was a nice break from constantly thinking about how to keep the show on the air for another week!

So Wednesday nights have become Movie night ever since! Plus there are too many people at the movies on Tuesday nights. It sucks not getting a good seat or having some idiot kicking the back of your seat all night long!

No movie tonight though.I have to look through about three more hours af footage yet tonight which kinda sucks! I want to go to the movies! What are ya guna do? I'm livin the dream!

I better get back to it.Later guys.

Tuesday Night TV!

Hey guys, I'm back from the cottage and have been busy working with Russ on the new website. I hope that you all like it! When the new site goes online, I'm counting on all of you to really start spreading the word about www.jrdigs.com and my blog. With fun stuff happening like the Kayvon Game, everyone in the world should be checking out my blog, don't you think? (lol)

Where else can you see actual video footage of me getting my haircut on a Friday afternoon? If that's not enough, well then just click here and you can see more of that riveting video footage!

Gotta get back to work now so that I can take the night off to watch TV. The Amazing Race is on at 9:00pm, followed by Deadwood at 10:00pm and then Unscripted and Entourage are on after that. At midnight, I can start flicking around the channels a little, depending who's on Letterman and then I'll crash at about 1:00am.

Have a good night everyone, I'm going to!

JR
