"Day of John" Movie Poster

Hey guys, remember me? I haven't posted a blog in over a week but I hope you all understand how crazy ass busy I am right now. Although my show is still my biggest priority, being involved with Chris Nash's film that will be screened in a couple weeks at the Toronto International Film Festival is creating some exciting new opportunities for me in the movie making business.

I have to admit, the prospect of making movies is more intriguing and alluring than I ever could have imagined. Once in awhile you end up putting together a pretty good episode of television and you are proud to know people will be watching it a couple days after you deliver it to the station. You get seven more days before people watch your next episode and if it isn't equally as good or as funny then your back to square one. What you did a week ago doesn't matter much if the episode people just finished watching wasn't necessarily your best effort. A movie on the other hand has a lifespan of months or even years sometimes. I can't imagine how cool it would be to work on something for more than a couple weeks and not have to constantly be under the gun to deliver the episode or movie you are working on regardless of how good it is!

I think the small screen will always be my passion, I love Tv, I really do, Especially late night television. I like going to the movies as most of you know, but I have no idea if I would like making them because I have never actually done that before. It looks like I might get to find that out pretty soon but until then, I'm just going enjoy being in one. Having my first time being shot on film, screened at such a big film festival is pretty cool. Chris just sent me the official movie poster. You might not be able to read all the names ect. that are on the poster but check it out anyways......

I'm pretty sure the first screening is on September 11th at 9:00pm but I'm not positive about that so I'll have to find out for sure and let you guys know.

I do know that the first two public screenings will be at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) which is an amazingly cool place to see a movie screened according to Branden who has been there before.

I wish I had more time right now to tell you guys about my weekend and some of the other stuff I have been doing lately but I've got to get back to making a Tv show to air this weekend and I was in meeting with people all day today so I am a little behind on getting the show made for this week!

I actually took a couple days off over the weekend to kick back a little and go to my buddies gold tournament. I'm not a good enough golfer to go in the Canadian or US open but my team was good enough to win "Your fly is" Open on Saturday which is what Arch calls his annual tournament. Get it, your fly is, open!

Anyways,I really do have to get back to work here or I'm going to be screwed.I just thought I had better get a blog posted here again before people start sending me angry emails or making threatening post on the message board as opposed to some of the polite reminders I have been getting about not being here in a while. It's nice to know people give a crap!!!!! I look forward to seeing some of you in a few weeks at the screening of the movie.

JR wasn't shot,he was eaten alive!

I had lunch today with Chris Nash! Who is Chris Nash you might be wondering!

Aside from being one of the guys who creates a lot of the music that we put in the show each week, Chris Nash is an up and coming film maker and an all round good guy!

After the show was pulled off the air last December, suddenly I had the time to consider doing a few of the other things that I had wanted to do for years but didn't have time for because I was making a TV show every week.
Low budget and independent film making is something I have always been interested in so when Chris asked me to be in the short film he was working on I thought it would be a cool thing to do.I knew Chris was a talented guy so it wasn't that hard a decision for me to make.I have always wanted to be sure that my first movie role and first time being shot on film would be something I could be proud of so that I wold feel good about telling people to see the first movie I was ever in.It seemed like a really good idea, plus he let me play the part of a crazy mailman who summons demons up from hell to kill everyone. How cool is that!!!!!

Well guess what .....not only was I right about thinking Chris Nash would make a good movie that people would actually want to see and that I would be proud to be a part of but now I get to tell people that my first part in a movie can be seen this September at a screening at The Toronto International Film Festival!!!
The Festival is a really big deal now and probably the third biggest and most popular one in the world. The film is already getting some buzz and being written about in major newspapers ect...........

I hope that some of you get to see the movie at the festival in September with us.The atmosphere at the film festival is amazing and we will definaltely be having a huge afterparty that you are all invited to if you let me know that you want to come and will be there.I'll be talking alot more about this in September and give you guy's all the info about the film ect that you need to know.

This is a very exciting time for everybody involved in the film and Chris and I are already talking about the next Feature legth film that he wants to shoot in October.Getting "Day Of John" screened at this years festival, totally paves the way for Nash's next film which is incredible! It looks like I will be getting killed in that one as well.

Have a great weekend everyone.I'll touch back here in a few days.

Nice to hear from you,or maybe not!

Wow, I'm starting to get a lot more emails from you guys lately, so please don't be bummed if I haven't gotten back to you yet. I will eventually, I promise! Unless of course, you send me an email and don't include your name or email address like the email I received from someone earlier this afternoon.

"Holy crap is this stuff awful. I hate to say it, but there's a reason broadcasters haven't picked you up."

Tell me something, who makes the time to send an email like this in the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday to someone they have never met before? The kind of person who doesn't even have the guts to sign their name or include an email address, I guess.

I suppose there will always be people out there, filled with so much jealousy and frustration about their own lives that they will always feel the need to fill the world with the same kind of negative shit that festers inside of them rather than rise above it and accept the fact that maybe their life just sucks and its no one's fault, but their own.

It's emails like this that I get occasionally from people that make me appreciate all of the ones I get from you guys that are so encouraging and inspiring! When you put yourself out there on television like I have chosen to,I guess you have to expect to run into and hear from a few "A" holes now and then! It just sucks that I can't even email this person back though!!! I would really like to.

Maybe that's why it's so cool to hear from those of you who seem to like what I am doing and have some appreciation for how I have put myself in a position to be doing it!

Oh ya,it's also starting to look good for me to also have the opportunity to get out there and meet a lot of you this fall. Plans for that cross-country trek by train in late September with a guitar, a camera and a few friends, seems to be going forward as I hoped they would. It's not for sure yet but it's looking good.

I'll continue to keep you posted.
Later guys,

Welcome to the message board Borealis

I was just checking out the message board which has been set up so that people can send me messages, make post and share their thoughts about stuff with everyone!

It looks like Borealis just registered so I thought I would say welcome,it's great to hear from you, thanks!
You must have watched the show on MENTV on Sunday night which is cool! Most of the new digital channels have very few people watching across the country so it's great that people are watching the show on MENTV which is one of the new digital channels Global has.

As a matter of fact, part of the deal I made with Global to get the show back on the air this summer was that every new episode has to first be aired on MENTV and then it can be re-aired on their CH stations Nationally and on Global later this fall!
That's why this Friday and Saturday you will see an episode featuring mostly old clips and next week we are back to airing more new episodes again.A new episode didn't air on MENTV last Sunday which is what Borealis watched so the episode we shot at Tony's Corner last Saturday can't be aired until next week instead of this weekend. Are you guy's following me?

Speaking of new episodes,I think that A&E is airing the original pilot episode of "DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER" tonight at 9:00pm.I'm not positive about that but I hope so.It's one of my fav shows for some reason. That and Entourage are the only shows I ever try and make a point of watching these days.

I better roll on here guy's,I've got some more stuff to get done before 9:00pm. Big up Borealis!!!!!!

I've got a big meeting Wednesday regarding the Cross County trek I want to make this fall on the train.I hope it happens and I look forward to seeing all you guys out there sometime in September.I'll keep you posted.

JR,will you ever do any Stand Up?

Hey guy's,what up?

I went to the drive-in last night and watched the last half of Wedding Crashers and the first half of Deuce Bigalow.I had already seen wedding crashers so it was no big deal that we were late and missed the first half of the movie. It's by far the funniest movie of the summer and Deuce Bigalow is definitely one of the worst!!! It was awful so we left because I was still bagged from being out late on Friday night and I really needed to get some sleep.

Speaking of Friday night,I guess it's pretty cool to be me once in a while because you get to meet people like Jaime Kennedy if you want to.Sometimes I seem to forget that!I've never met Rob Schneider but I have met Adam Sandler a couple times. He owns the production company that produced Deuce Bigalow but that didn't help make the movie any funnier!

Trying to make a funny movie or tv show isn't always the easiest thing to do in the world. That's why I appreciate some of the feedback I'm getting from you guy's on the show these days.Making an entertaining and funny show without being too shocking or over the top all the time is a tricky thing.Comedies are often not very funny at all so it means a lot to hear that there are people out there who are finding the show funny again. The message board hasn't been too busy like it use to be with feedback but I keep checking it out all the time. Thanks risefromthedead!!!!

It seems most of you would rather email me than post on the message board which is cool but keep in mind that sometimes it's cool for other people to get to read about what's on you mind as well.

In responce to a few of the emails I have received lately....creating some sort of stand up act isn't out of the question but I might have to bring my guitar with me on stage and yes,It's great to get to experiment a little bit with some new stuff this summer on the show and I'm looking forward to taking what works and building on it more this fall.

Happy summer everyone,it's starting to slide by fast!!!!!! Ps:I ate way too much bulk candy and sour worms at the drive-in!!!
Later guys,

My Jamie Kennedy Experiment

I'm Super bagged right now because I got home around 4:00AM and was up kinda early this morning and have been busy all day today.I ended up meeting Jamie Kennedy last night after catching his stand up act at Yuk Yuk's in Toronto.Turns out that his rapping partner is originally from here and he knew my show so I had a hook up.I had no idea that Jamie Kennedy even did any stand up stuff but the act was really funny,he is a great guy and I had an awesome night.

I was hoping to have Jamie on this weeks episode and was going to shoot footage with him today but it didn't work out.Turns out that Fifty cent and a bunch of other big rap dudes are in Toronto for some concert and Jamie aka "B-rad" wanted to check out the show and chill back stage with all those guys.Looks like I will have to wait until he is back in town in another month or so to shoot something with him.

We ended up shooting footage this afternoon at Tony's Corners instead."Tony the Greek" isn't exactly Jamie Kennedy but the footage we shot with him was pretty funny.I have to deliver the show first thing monday morning so it looks like Sunday will be a busy day editting.
Tonight we might just kick back and try are luck at the drive-in again.Last Sunday we got the shaft.

Better fly,it's after 9:00pm already.

Have a great weekend everyone.

A Little Bit Of Ink!

A while ago in the Toronto Star newspaper, the front page of their entertainment section featured a huge picture of myself,Tom Green and Mike Myers.Below it was a big write up about me and my show and my adventure into Tv land in the footsteps of all the other Canadian Funnymen to make it big!

Last week Tom Green was on the show with me and after we shot the episode, I had him sign the article so that after I signed it as well,I could have some sort of contest or something here on the site so that I could give it away to a fan which might be kind of cool.
Now I have decided to wait until I also get mike Myers to sign the picture so that all three of us who apprear in the picture have signed it.I think that will be an even cooler thing to win someday!! Stay tuned guys, and I'll let you know as soon as I get Mike Myers to sign the picture!

The most recent thing to be writen about me in a newspaper was last Friday. Check it out, the Hamilton Spectator wrote an awesome article about the show:

http://www.jrdigs.com/spectator.html

I was also did an interview with SugercainEntertainment.com, which you can read by going here:

http://www.sugarcainentertainment.com/filmtv/jr_diggs.shtml

I suppose that the internet doesn't count as actual ink but it's great to get some interest from the media again. It's really nice to get a little ink in the newspapers again for sure.Switching timeslots is always kind of a drag because people lose track of you and don't know when your show is on Tv anymore!
A little publicity is definately a good thing.

I hope everyone watch's the show tonight and don't forget to keep speading the word. That's the best kind of publicity there is......

Later guy's,

JR

Back in blog land

Hi guys, it's nice to be back here in blog land again. I took a bunch of days off this past week as a bit of a break from the madness that I call my life. Over the last couple years, I found that when I was putting new shows together, I would end up working way too much everyday on the show and focus only on the show. It's probably not the best way to stay creative and it's about time I start having some fun while I make the show for a change!

I'm feeling pretty pumped right now about getting these next few shows delivered, so I guess it was a good idea to screw around and do some other stuff for a few days.

Over the weekend I went on a couple of day trips with my girlfriend who just bought a new Jeep. It's fun driving in a Jeep on a hot summer night. Saturday, we ended up in Port Delousie, which is somewhere I had never been before. It's a total summer town, with a ton of cool bars all packed into this one little area. I had a great night!

On Sunday we ended up in Niagara Falls and did a bunch of tourist kind of shit. We even went on the Maid of the Mist, it was awesome. I wish I took my camera, because they pack all these people from a hundred different countries on these boats and everyone wears these blue rain coats and it looks hilarious. Not having a camera with me was kind of the point of going there and doing other stuff for the day, but I might just have to go back someday soon and shoot some stuff for the show, I think.

Sunday night, we went to the drive in which I haven't done in a while and it was so packed that we couldn't even get a spot. We ended up on the side of the road about 2km's away, watching half a screen showing The Dukes of Hazard. It was really pretty hilarious.Trying to watch the movie through a bunch of tree's,not the movie!! I'm pretty sure it mostly sucked!

Let's see now, what else have I done for fun lately....Yesterday, I played golf in this big fancy tournament that I was invited to play in because I'm on TV or something. It was a good day, the food was great and I won a nice set of poker chips and an umbrella. It was crazy, they had like $40,000 worth of prizes at the prize table, but our team was super crappy, so we were on of the last groups to pick up a prize. It was a fun day though, the people at Score Golf were really nice and it was cool to hang out a little bit with some of the suits I know from Global, in a more relaxed atmosphere, while drinking beer.

I'm not sure what else to catch you guys up on here, so I'll wrap this up now ok.

It's back to working on the show. I'm trying to set something up with Jamie Kennedy on Saturday, so I hope that works out for me.

Later guys,

JR

The Brothers

I can honestly say that there are at least three good reasons to watch the show this coming weekend. I have a pretty cool celebrity guest on the show and you will be introduced to two brothers that you will start seeing a little more of on the show this fall.

All summer long, I plan on trying new things with the show in an effort to see what might evolve out of it. The brothers are two volunteers that might actually contribute more to the show on camera than they ever could off camera and behind the scenes!

Click here and meet the Brothers

I hope everyone had a great long weekend.Dam,this summer is really flying by!
Later guys,
