Look Mom,No hand!
I had a great time last night and I met a few really cool people.Meeting new people is always interesting or at least I think it is. Its an amazing day outside right now.I just got back from grabbing a coffee and on my way home I decided that I should take a drive up north to the cottage.I think I'm just going to go up by myself, chop some fire wood and come back on Monday afternoon with an inspired new idea for my show.I need to figure out what to do on my show for the next couple months until the new series is shot and ready to go on the air. I was hoping to shoot a bunch of quirky, goofball kind of shows with a live audience but I would need a cable access station to help me put something like that together and the Hamilton and Burlington cable access stations don't seem at all interested in doing something like that with me. So I gotta get up north and start burning some leaves or chopping some wood to clear my head.By tomorrow afternoon I'll have a much better idea of what to do on my show for the next few months.Unless of coarse I accidentally chop one of my hands off which might require me to get some cheap plastic hand which might end up being awesome.Imagine if every week I just went around interviewing people and when they shook my hand and said goodbye, they pulled my hand off! That would be an awesome show to air each week up until the new series airs in a few months. Ok maybe not awesome, but kinda funny maybe. Ok,I'm outta here.See ya guys, get outside and enjoy the day if it's nice out where you live. JR
A HALLOWEEN SCREENING
Make sure you guys play safe tonight if you are going out to some Halloween Party! We are screening "Day Of John" tonight at a big Halloween Party put on by the folks at The Canadian Film makers Festival. It's very cool that they wanted to screen the film at their party. We have to be there by 10:00pm so I better get movin.Have fun if you are going out tonight guys. Later, JR
BAD TIME FOR A BLOG!
I'm not sure if updating my blog at this exact moment is such a good idea considering where my head is at right now.I found out yesterday that the folks at the local college radio station aren't willing to give me my own radio show, this morning I was told that the local cable tv station isn't at all interested in helping me put together a new latenight show that I wanted to shoot in front of a live audience and just moments ago, I learned that another opportunity I was counting on,isn't going to pan out for me like I thought it would. This latest news that I received came as a little bit of a shock because it was a huge opportunity for me and it looked like a perfect fit.I'm afraid if I continue blogging here, all this pounding on the keys will just end up being some crazy ass rant that I will regret later...... Screw it,there is nobody else around here right now that wants to hear about any of this so maybe some of you guys do.Entourage is one of the only shows on Tv that I really look forward to watching on Tv anymore but last night I found myself flipping through the channels while it was on because the episodes are all repeats now. It makes me wonder how the hell I have managed to continue pulling respectable ratings these past few years with so many repeats and old recut episodes being aired. It's kind of amazing actually.Especially when so many of the episodes in my opinion haven't been nearly as good or as funny as they could have been. That being said, the Halloween episode with my Grandpa that is airing this weekend is one of the best episodes I ever made.If you've never seen this one, make sure you check it out. It's definitely one of my favorite episodes and for sure much closer to the kind of show I've wanted to make these past few years. Hey JR,why so discontent all of a sudden you might be wondering or saying to yourself! I suppose if you have read the show history on the site here, you might have a better understanding of why but there are lots of reasons why I have never been able to make the kind of show I always hoped I was capable of making. And here I sit,in the middle of some rant trying my hardest not to mention exactly what this latest opportunity was so that I don't burn any bridges for myself. The question is why,so back to that.I think it's because I have always had to refrain from following my instincts and doing what I really wanted to be doing,I guess because it would be compared too much to you know who. While glancing through the show history page you may have checked out a piece of video shot back in 1989.If two years ago I was running around with a giant foam penis microphone trying to get reactions from people you would think, wow, that is so Tom Green but it was back in 1989 that we were shooting this footage, not two years ago. I have always admired Tom Green for somehow getting his cable access show on the air and for building the kind of career for himself that he has.I still can't even get a dam cable access show.Unfortunately for me,I obviously share Tom's sense of humor and it's been difficult trying not to be too much like him over the years. In the process of doing that,I think I also ended up not being too much like myself anymore either. I could probably go on at length at this point and I don't even know where I am going with any of this all of a sudden so I'm actually going to stop myself .I've been reading too many emails about last weeks episode with Tom Green I guess.I'll get back on track and simply conclude by saying that the lack of direction and understanding for what I have been trying to do with my show, has lead me to lot's of places I didn't want to be.Four years later I find myself at yet another crossroads and it's painfully obvious that its time to head in a new direction because where I'm at isn't getting me anywhere. So much that happens in the entertainment industry is almost impossible to understand which is why I don't even begin to try and figure out what happens in this industry here in Canada. It's a wonky world that's for sure. I'm not talking about packing it in yet guys, don't get me wrong.More than ever I need to prove to people what I might be capable of.On days like this, it just gets a little tougher to find the energy to keep trying. That's why I'm getting more and more pumped about this new series I'm developing.I think it will be great to have creative likeminded people around me again like I use to have.Nothing will ever replace the creative energy I had with all my friends back in the day but I look forward to blazing a new trail and seeing where it takes me.Any place is better than here,I know that for sure. It's time to shake things up so stay tuned...... I had better sign off now before this rant all of a sudden get's ugly.Later guys. JR
You know what Wednesday is right?
It's a wet a wonky "what you guys have to say Wednesday" and I thought I might change things up a little bit this week and put some video on the site to check out. It's actually just video of me checking voicemails but I thought why not hear what you guys have to say and not just read about it each Wednesday in the emails I post each week. A long time ago I gave out my number on the air and encouraged people to call me. To this day I still get people calling me and when I'm not around to pick up the phone, people usually leave voicemails for me. Hear is what one of you had to say lately... (Click Here)Most of the emails and phone calls I get from people are upbeat and encouraging but as you just heard, they aren't always so positive and that's just the way it is I guess. Here's what another one of you had to say... Subject: your shows funny as a motherfucker
Message: hey JR wat up been watchin your show for a while and your a riot anyway just wanted to let you know that you got a lot of fans that are hip hop heads watchin your show im going to be bringing a urban lifestyle show to ch 11 in the new year and I owe a lot of that in part to you cause you showed me that you can do it as long as you got some and a lot of balls .
peace, Richard...and my little world yings & yangs and finds balance once again.Keep the emails coming and continue spreading the word about the site. Some of you must be telling your friends about jrdigs.com because the it looks like alot more people are checking out the site lately which is very cool. I'll touch base with you guys again another day, you can count on it. JR
I need a patch cord....
My Mom called me when her and my Dad got back to their place in Venice Florida yesterday but I haven't been able to put the conversation I recorded on the site here because I need to go pick up a new patch cord that will allow me to digitize the footage in my computer. I'll do that when I take a break today for lunch so check back later for that report on Hurricane Wilma and hear what my Mom has to say about how things look down there! The weather has turned crappy here over the last few days as well.It didn't bother me too much on Sunday though.I spent the entire day inside eating and watching sports and whatever else was on Tv all day long until a little after midnight when I ate the last piece of pizza. Before I crashed I ended up flipping back and fourth between The Surreal life and Kenny vs. Spenny which is the show I was talking about last week. (CLICK HERE) This week I learned that it was in fact Kenny who was the one that was accusing me of stealing his time slot so it wasn't his pal Spenny.I also learned that The Surreal life will never get any funnier than the time Mini Me got so drunk that he ended up naked standing on his scooter thing taking a leak in the hallway. I'm not so hooked on The Surreal Life this time around which is why I ended up flipping back and fourth between shows.I'm curious about this Kenny vs.Spenny Show I have to admit, partly because on Sunday I saw more promo's for the show than I have ever seen for The JR DIGS Show in over four years on the air.It must be nice......... The episode I kept flipping back to on Sunday had them in a competition to stay naked the longest.I really do like the concept for this show. That coming from a guy who has no idea what his show should be about anymore! Maybe Kenny will read this blog or someone he knows will tell him I have been watching his show over the last couple weeks and I like it,I think it's entertaining and funny.Plus I am still a little curious what he was talking about that night I met him a while ago.Maybe you guys are as well.Looks like we have something else to stay tuned for here on the site..... That conversation with my Mom should be uploaded a little later on this afternoon. Later guys, JR
HURRICANE WILMA
I spoke with my Mom this afternoon and they were about to head back home so I guess it's safe to do so.I told her to call me when they get there and I think I should record the conversation and get a full report from Florida for you guys.I'll put it on the site here after she calls me so stay tuned........ Later, JR
IN THE NEWS TODAY
Two cups of coffee, one cup of apple juice, loads of syrup over silver dollar pancakes and cripy bacon, mmmmm! Good way to start the day eh? It looks like another rainy Sunday afternoon outside not that I would know for sure because I haven't even been outside yet today. On Friday the temperature got up to 22 which was nice considering my Brother and I spent most of are time outside over the last couple of days.Getting work done at the cottage never really feels too much like work and most of what needed to get done ended up getting done just in time to take my Brother to the airport. By now he is back in Ireland and I assume he is doing better than my folks who have been told to evacuate from their place in Florida. I'm sure my Mom hasn't even unpacked all her stuff yet because they just got down there and then first thing this morning they recieved a phone call from the city telling them that they need to evacuate.Police officers with load speakers on thier cars were driving around reminding people that they needed to evacuate sometime before this evening. Last year my parents decided to start spending thier winters down south after my Dad was offered an early retirement package from the Bank. They have a place in Venice and they are heading to stay with friends until they are told they can go home.Their friends live a little further inland near Sarasota. Sarasota is where Pee Wee Herman got busted a few years back touching his Pee Pee Herman spot in a movie theatre! I'll update my blog again later on tonight if I have any more news on Huricane Wilma to fill you guys in on... In other news, your pal JR finally got a little ink in his local newspaper last week.I forgot to tell you guys about it and I didn't actually have a copy of the newspaper until today so I couldn't scan it and get it on line here for you guys to check out. It was the weirdest thing.I think it was last Wednesday while flipping through a stack of newspapers to find something to read at a Tim Hortons when all of a sudden I see a picture of me in one of the papers. The Arts section of the Burlington Post was pulled out of the paper so I couldn't miss it and it only seemed strange mostly because I had no idea there was a story about me in the paper that day.... A few weeks ago I did a phone interview with this dude from the post but nothing ever came of it so assumed they weren't going to print anything about me or my show for the same reasons they have never done a story about me over the last four years.I don't know why that is but I have just grown use to being ignored by the media I guess. Click Here to view the newspaper article if you are intereted in seeing it.Who knows when some edittor might feel like I am worthy or the least bit interesting enough to write about again. I'll touch base with you guys again later. JR
What you guys have to say Wednesday....
Subject: JR and Tom Green. Message: Hi, JR. You were looking for some opinions on things, so I thought I'd write in. I know you were asking about the Tom Green/JR Digs comparison thing, and yes, I'm guilty of using that too. I have compared you to Tom once or twice, but that was only to people who haven't seen the show. I am a fan of both of your work. There are things I like about both of you, but things I don't like as well. I think the big difference for me is that Tom would do some things I was really repulsed over, but you don't (to be honest, I really hate some of the language on your show, though). The key to it all, of course, is variety and the reactions and interactions with people. Some of his best segments involved the general public, as do yours. Lots of fun can be had when you go up to strangers asking weird questions or even just shooting the breeze. Oh, that's nice that your parents are able to spend the winter in a warm climate. Will you be visiting them down there at any point? Later, Guy Subject: last night's show. Message: Hey JR... Thought I'd check out last night's show to see you and Mr. Green... after all, it was at that Hamilton Tom Green show that I first discovered JR Digs...which lead me on to seeing Chris Nash'es film.....WHERE WILL THIS CHAIN OF EVENTS END?!!! Anyhow, it seems the Tom Green episode wasn't on last night...it was a repeat of the episode where you meet the Trailer Park Boys. Ah well, I did post a message on Tom Green's website about your show, anyways. You can see my message in his blog section - it's titled "Dig Green on the Digs show". Hope you had a swanky time at Spoke's last night. Next time call me! cheers, Shane .........Hey guys JR here.I should let you all know that I did end up finding out what happened last weekend and it looks like somebody screw up.No point in getting all freaked out about it because that stuff happens now and again,I just hope it doesn't happen again or at least any time soon(lol)! I got enough crap to worry about these days without having the same episode airing two weeks in a row. The episode with Tom Green that was scheduled to air last weekend will definitely be airing this weekend so to all of you who emailed me about it not airing last weekend, sorry,I hope you get to see it this weekend! Every Wednesday I will continue posting a couple emails that I receive from people so keep them coming and keep spreading the word about the site so more and more people start sliding by here for a look. I should shut up now because this is "What you guys have to say Wednesday" and if I wouldn't have babbled on here I probably could have posted somebody else's email. Later Guys, JR
A clutter free night.
Bri bailed on me so I didn't end up going to a movie with him earlier. He had to work late and he has a real job so there wasn't much he could do about it or I would rip into him here. Bri is one of the few people I would say for sure is a friend of mine.I don't know about you guys but real friends are tough to come by and Bri and I go way back.We met at camp and have been hangin out ever since. As a matter of fact,he just called me like two seconds ago to make sure I wouldn't start calling him names and giving him a hard time next time we go out for lunch because today when we hooked up for lunch I told him I thought he would probably find some lame ass excuse not to go to a flick tonight and sure enough, look what happened... Screw him right guys,I ended doing nothing all night when I was looking forward to seeing my old pal "Smaley"and going to see a movie.Actually I'm hoping I can talk him into helping out with this new radio show I want to get on the air soon so maybe I take that back. I think I'm going to watch the end of The amazing race right now then I'll start gutting my place here. There is too much shit everywhere and I am losing my mind looking at everything lieing around.I'm going to put everything and I mean everything in box's and in bag's and then into the garage.I'll have this place completely clutter free by morning. So that's what I'm doing tonight...... I hope you guys have a pretty clutter free night and your so called friends don't end screwing you over like mine did.........(lol) Later, JR
THE NEW CHRIS NASH FILM
We just confirmed are first three days of shooting for the new Chris Nash Film which I am producing. On November 4,5&6 we will begin shooting the film so today I booked the camera we need. There obviously will be alot more work to do over the next few weeks and its cool to be involved as the producer of the film which is kind of new territory for me..... While driving home just now I started thinking about how often I have been posting blogs these days.It would be cool if way more people started coming to the site and we began doing more stuff here that might be interesting for everybody. It looks like there are alot of you out there who check out my blog pretty regularly but if every single one of you told at least one more person to slide by the site sometime, the numbers would double.I'm no math whiz but thats a lot more people checking out the site which would be awesome. Maybe there is a more interesting way to get more people into jrdigs.com I don't know, but this sound like an easy way.So start spreading the word....."JR DIGS IS EASY" Have a good night guys.I'm off to a movie with a buddy of mine. Later, JR
LAST NIGHT ON TV
A while ago I was out with some people in Toronto which is something I don't really do that much.Go out anymore in Toronto that is,I don't really go down there that much because I live in Burlington and it always seems to be a drag having to get home late ect. .. Anyways,I was out this one time a while ago and some dude comes up to me and says "so your stealing my timeslot eh" I don't have a clue who he is or what he is talking about until he introduces himself as Kenny from the show Kenny vs Spenny.Or maybe it was Spenny from the show Kenny vs.Spenny I can't remember but I had heard of the show before because it was on the CBC and I really do like TV alot so I pretty much know every show that is on TV, but I digress...... So he kind of persist with regards to me stealing his timeslot and I honestly don't have a clue what he is talking about so I keep telling him "dude I don't have a clue what you are talking about"until he believes me and we eventually moved on to talking about something else, we say see ya around and one of us left,I can't really remember which one of us, but that doesn't really matter does it..... Where was I going with all of this...... Oh ya,so last night I'm flicking through the channels around 1:00am and I come across this show Kenny vs Spenny on Showcase.I remember someone telling me that Showcase picked up some show which use to be on CBC and its going to be airing after The Trailer Park Boys on Sunday nights this fall which is about as good a timeslot as you can get these days on TV in Canada for a Canadian made show.Anyways, that's when I make the connection. That's what dude was talking about back then when I met him that time.He must have heard that my show was getting picked up by Showcase a while ago which would have totally sucked for him if thats what someone had told him because he must have been pitching his show to Showcase around that same time. Note:There was a few weeks a while ago when Showcase seemed interested in JR DIGS but I had no idea that they were that interested. When I was contacted out of the blue by them about my show, I guess I didn't really think that much of it. Things were heading in the right direction with Global at that time so I ended up sending them some crappy tape with some rough cut segments on it and that was the end of it.Well to be honest, there was a little bit more to it than that but I shouldn't.....ah why not..... One of the regulars on the message board after reading a post I had made about sending this tape to Showcase, decided to rally fans together and encouraged people to start emailing one of the people in Programming at Showcase.I never did find out how they got this persons email address but the person who ended up getting flooded with emails about JR DIGS from fans of the show was the Vice President of Programming at that time and they weren't very happy about it. I was contacted because I guess this person thought it was a stunt I had encouraged and it wasn't appreciated.I quickly got on the message board as some of you will still remember and asked people to stop emailing this person at Showcase but it was a little too late by then.I'm sure that's not the reason Showcase ended up not having any further interest in my show but I suppose it didn't help.I sure would have liked to believe that getting a bunch of emails from viewers saying JR DIGS is awesome, pick it up please would have been a good thing but who knows! Like I mentioned earlier,at the time I was pretty happy as I still am with being on the Network that I am and always have been on,so it really did have everything to do with the half-assed tape I ended up sending to Showcase I'm sure. It was less than impressive trust me. Whoever ended up looking at that tape I sent probably couldn't even figure out what my dam show was even about.Hell I'm still trying to figure that out myself half the time! Now I really don't know where I was going with any of this.....I remember now... So it was amusing last night to tie everything together and realize that Showcase might have actually been interested in my show after all.Obviously they were looking for a new show to produce and develop for their network and wow, what a nice little timeslot they were looking to fill with it! As for this Kenny vs Spenny show which is the show I have been talking about all this time,I thought it was a funny episode that I watched last nigth. It's well produced and I like the concept.I think it will do much better on Showcase than it did on CBC and I hope it does.Although I'm envious of any show with a production budget,I hear these guys are hard working never give up kinds of guys which is something I can definitely relate to.I 100% respect those types of qualities in any person but especially in the people trying to make it in the Canadian entertainment industry. So Good for Kenny and for Spenny too! I encourage everyone to check out their show sometime. Ps: I just got back from my meeting about the radio show I want to start producing but there isn't much more to mention about it right now.I'll keep you guys posted. It's starting to rain out.I like it when it rains.Later, JR
Sunday's are the best!
I thought I might update my blog so that I could thank all of you who have been emailing over the last day or so.It's really great to hear from you guys. I guess having something to email me about has given some of you more incentive to do so.I'm looking forward to "What you guys Have to Say Wednesday" so that I can post a few of your emails for everyone else to check out. For the rest of the night I'm going to kick back and watch TV and on Monday night I am meeting the program director at the local College radio station about the weekly radio show I would like to start doing. It's something I have always wanted to do and as soon as Howard Stern goes to satellite Radio in January,I think it will be the beginning of the end of radio as we now know it.It could be an exciting new era in radio and I am more than just a little interested in this new frontier. Keep the emails coming. It's more fun to update this blog regularly if it feels like people are out there reading it. Hey maybe I'll watch the end of the baseball game right now if it's still on.I have actually been following the playoffs a little bit for some reason this year. Not sure why because I lost interest in watching baseball a few years ago.Anyways that's what I'm going to do right now. Later guys, JR
Sad but true....
No word yet from the network with regards to last nights show so I still don't know what happened but I did get an email from someone regarding the episode that did air. Occasionally I get emails from people that feel the need to contact and criticize me and sometimes if their points are valid I actually appreciate the feedback.Rambling on and then adding"You suck"just makes the person sending the email sound like an idiot so those are easy emails to disregard. The email I read a few minutes struck a different cord with me entirely.I find the email repulsive and underlined with an ugliness that I can't believe still exist in are world today. I think its worth posting here simply to remind all of you of the kinds of people that still live among us in this world.... To: mailto:JOBS@JRDIGS.COM: ur the best Message: very quick -- I've seen quite a few shows now and don't understand how a no-fucking talent nerd like you can get and keep his own show...must be the money and/or you're jewish. either way you're a sad representation of canadian culture. Toronto is fast becoming the self contained nerd capital of Canada thanxs to nerdboys with freedom quests like you. Holy fuck buddy you're a fucking NERD!!...btw...if it didn't sink in yet...you're a nerd ......I hope that all of you make an extra effort to make the world a better place today. It's sucks but an extra effort looks like it is needed to make up for the people like this. JR
Last Nights Episode?
Thanks for the heads up about last nights show guys but I have no idea why the episode that was scheduled to air last night didn't. I made a couple of calls and sent some emails to the network this morning but I haven't heard back from anyone yet. What really sucks is the episode that aired last night by mistake was just aired last week.Somebody screwed up and it wasn't me for a change. This weeks scheduled episode was delivered on time and everything. Sorry guys. JR
Me and all the cool kids....
I'm meeting a friend of mine tonight for a couple drinks at this swanky place down town in Toronto called the Spoke Club. I guess you have to be a member to get into this place and by buddy who is a well known photographer in Toronto is, which means he can bring me in as his guest. The clubs members are made up of people in the entertainment industry and the arts which makes this club ultra cool I guess(lol)! I always feel a little out of place around people in the industry and I would never want to be one of those Canadian actors who always seem to want so badly to be famous like American actors and television personalities get to be.I suppose they forget for some reason that they will never be famous like that,we can't be,we are Canadians living and working in Canada. Well, its not that we are Canadian, its just that we are on Canadian Television or are in Canadian made movies that no one ever gets to see. There are plenty of famous Canadians but I can't think of too many who got famous until they make it big in the USA. Tom Green is on my show this weekend. He is a famous person now but where would he be right now if he didn't make it big in the States. He wouldn't be rich that's for sure and getting rich is way more important than getting famous if you ask me. I think it would really suck if you got really famous but after your moment in the spotlight fades, you had to go get some job that you hated and for the rest of your life although people still recognize you it is only ever a constant reminder of the life that could have been but it really wasn't because you are about to go back to some shitass job you hate but you gotta do it because you still need the money to live ,pay your bills and all that kind of crap. Fame without the money isn't something that I would wish on anyone I don't think. Well maybe a couple people but this isn't the time to mention names! I'll save that for another blog! I'll be sure to let you guys know if anyone cool is hanging out at the Spoke Club tonight. My sister was talking with Sharon Stone yesterday so I know that she is in town. Maybe she will be there. Maybe we will hang out and watch my show on TV and I'll lie and tell her that Tom Green and I are good friends to see if that helps me fit in with her crowd. Tom and I aren't friends by the way. It's not like we are enemies or anything like that or he would have never agreed to come on my show but some of you that have emailed me seem to think we must know eachother and we are friends.I had no idea some of you think I must be that dialed in but as a matter of fact, we don't even really know eachother at all. I've only ever met him one time which you can see on TV this weekend. We did end up hanging out for a while after we taped the stuff for the show which ended up being kind of an awkward and surreal couple of hours for me. Picture some kid standing between Tom and I saying over and over again "holy shit this is crazy, I'm standing between Tom Green and JR DIGS, this is crazy, holy shit" and then picture Tom kinda looking over at me thinking who the "F" is JR DIGS. Ya it was kind of weird for me because after all this time being compared to this now famous celebrity,I'm still just some schmuck that most people haven't even heard of..... What are ya going to do,it was nice to finally meet him for sure and it was very cool that he came on my show.I have no idea if he would ever do it again so make sure you check out the show this weekend if you think it might be cool to see Tom Green and I together on the same show just hangin out and having a few laughs. Jeremy Klein is on the show with us tonight as well and for those of you who know how into skateboarding I use to be, you will know how amazing this was for me to actually meet him in person.Dam I use to sell alot of his boards in my skateshop back in the day. I think Jeremy might have even bought me a beer at one point that night but if he had any idea how much money I made back in the day selling his boards I'm sure he would have expected me to be buying him the beer. That being said, all the money I make all those years in my shops selling his boards eventually got pissed away paying for airtime to get my dam show on the air over four yeras ago.I guess it was cool that he bought the beer after all....(lol) As for the constant comparisons to Tom Green all these years, obviously I have some opinions about that but I'm interested to hear what some of you have to say about this subject." What you guys have to say Wednesday" is only five days away.. ....... I had better get rolling here, later guys, have a great weekend. JR
I WONDER?
Just a quick update here to mention that I have been thinking about John's email a little bit since I posted it in my blog yesterday. Hey John, lets say that I did in fact owe you 30 minutes of your life back for some reason. What is it that you would want me to do for you? Maybe there is some potential for a future episode here........ Just curious.Later guys, JR
What you guys have to say Wednesday!
Hey there everyone,it looks like the nice weather we had last weekend might be the last of it in my part of the world. That means it's time to toss the old spiderman comforter that was at the cottage all summer into the washing machine again and spin into another new season I guess! My family was all at the cottage for the entire weekend for thanksgiving and now I pretty much have the place to myself again until next spring because my parents decided last year to start spending their winters in Florida for now on now that my dad is retired. My sister only goes up north a couple times in the summer and my brother doesn't even live in Canada any more which is why thanksgiving is the only time of the year that we all get together all at one time any more. I have lots of hilarious pictures that I was thinking about putting on the site here so check back later this week if you are at all interested in what my thanksgiving weekend looked like.I'm sure Cathy or "Buck" as we call her would be keen on me putting up some pics from are annual lawn dart tournament considering that she won it this year! I stayed up north until Tuesday morning so I'm a little behind right now on the re-cut of this weekends episode featuring Tom Green as my guest on the show. That means that I should get back to work here...... Instead of cutting my blog short here, how about I start something new on Wednesdays called "What you guys have to say Wednesdays"? Keep the emails coming because I really do enjoy hearing from all of you. Here is what a couple of you had to say recently........ To: JR@JRDIGS.COM Subject: what the hell was that last week? Message: Hey JR what s up? been a fan of your show for over a year now and its grate to see you back on TV. however, what the hell was that show that you aired on September 30th all about? out of all the stuff I saw on TV, that was the most boring and sickest thing I ever saw on TV. No one wants to see someone take a crap and im surprised that Global let you aired that! It shows how low TV can get! I say that you owe me. you owe me 30 mins of my life back from watching that nasty shit that wasn t even in colour. That s was not a TV show. No, that was like something you see in the internet. why didn t you show that in your vblogs instead of slapping it on a beta tape and send it in to global to air that? well, That s all I have to say. I am still a fan. just to me a fav! don t do any more crap like that in the air. it wastes peoples time and even my time. that s all I have to say so tell next time see ya! John To: JR@JRDIGS.COM Subject: what I think of your show. hey jrhows it going? well anyways, my name is jillian, i was reading some of your blog entries, about how you wanted people to email you and tell you what they thought of the show, well what i think is that you've got balls.(haha, yea. thats the best i could think.) but why i think you've got balls is because you've kept this dream alive for how long now? and have stuck through with people telling you that you suck, and you shouldnt have a show, and that they could do better than you. well, you dont see them making a show and getting it done and into the network everyweek do you? and you sure as hell dont see them working on independant films and such or whatever it is your doing, and still getting a show in, and still having this many fans, after the show wasnt even on tv for a while.that jr, is why i think you've got a lot of courage and drive towards this little show of yours. and its doing good from what i see, so all the people who like to think big of themselves, for insulting soemone they probly dont know,...over the internet... for doing what they dream, ...are lame sons of bitches who probly dont have lives outside of the internet trying to stir up shit. anyways, on a diffrent note, i totally think you should do that cross canada thing. that would be awesome.alright well this has been a long enough e-mail, have a good one jr !!-jillian ...and thats what a couple of you had to say on this "what you guys have to say Wednesday". Have a great day,Later. JR
Thanksgiving Weekend.
I just put the football,my guitar and battling tops in the car and we are about to take off for the cottage for the weekend. Before we eat turkey on Sunday we have to pull all the docks out of the water so Thanksgiving weekend at the cottage is also a little bit of a work weekend. My folks will be taking off to Florida for the winter next week sometime so it's also the last chance my Dad has to make his kids do some work around the cottage. My little sister"Buck" who makes homemade pumpkin pie every year now that my Grandma isn't alive anymore got up there yesterday afternoon and my brother flew in from Ireland a couple of days ago. I talked to my Mom last night and all we have missed so far is a latenight game of Trouble last night. It sounds like everyone had a few beers which usually make trouble a little more exciting and my brother asked my Mom to ask me why the beer fridge in the bunkie is empty which is his way of telling me they drank all the beer I left up there and I had better pick up some more! In case I don't have time to update my blog for over the next few day, here are the answers to my last blog...... 1)b 2)b 3)a 4)b 5)a .....A few of you came close but nobody was five for five! I'm looking forward to a great Thanksgiving weekend up north. The colors are spectacular on all the trees right now and all I have to think about all weekend is eating. We had better get rolling. Have a great weekend everyone. JR

What some of you have to say.....
To: JR@JRDIGS.COMSubject: I like YOUR show too! Message:Hi, JR...Steve from North Bay, Ontario here. I'm sorry- I have a guilty conscience, and I wanna confess something right now. I sent an email to Tom Green telling him I didn't like your show as much as his...and I guess maybe I shouldn't have said that- because you are a funny dude! But ya know...I'm a hardcore TOM fan, so that's why i said it. I didn't mean that I HATE your show completely. I only saw a few episodes...but I did indeed laugh! No hard feelings, man? If it makes you feel any better, I like YOU more than Jack-Ass! Oh...and Tom Green says he likes you too! So anyway, you're a talented guy. I'm sorry for what I said.
.......What's cool about having this blog is that people read it and start to realize I am just an ordinary person like they are who just happens to be livin the dream! Being on TV isn't even that big a deal anymore like it use to be! Now that reality TV is everywhere on the tube, people expect to see normal everyday people like me on TV. Everything in TV Land seems way more human now which is nice. Having this blog definitely makes it possible for people like Steve to even get in touch with me if they want to. That's definitely a cool thing if you ask me.
Steve sent me the above email last week sometime. After mentioning in my blog on Saturday that I was looking forward to hearing from all of you with regards to last weekends episode,I received another email from Steve. Thanks dude......
To: JR@JRDIGS.COMRE: I liked tonight's show!Message:Hi JR...it's Steve again- from North Bay. I watched tonight's show, and thought it was brilliant! Taking a dump for the entire 30 MINUTES, that was total Andy Kaufman style!!!! I liked it, man...it was different- and that's what we need on TV today. I'm going to tune in more often, is that on every night- or once a week? Take care, - Steve Walls North Bay, Ontario.
.....Not everyone I have heard from lately has become a new fan......
To: JR@JRDIGS.COMSubject: about the show. Message:seriously dude, whats up with your show, i mean, i'm not trying to be an asshole here, but how are you still on the air? i just saw an episode where all you did was sit on the toilet, and the rest of the time you're just making lame shallow 1 layered jokes. i know you're on late at night but seriously, a mentally disabled monkey could write a better show than yours. -yours truly, nick.
....Then there are the people who can't even watch the show from where they live in Canada now but have still stayed in touch and have remained loyal fans who are sticking by me no matter what.I suppose Tom Green would know what that feels like with people like Steve on his side. Its amazing to have the support of people like Steve and Alex in this crazy ass entertainment industry full of ups and downs.......
To: JR@JRDIGS.COM Hey man. I heard that you're worried about the shows longevity, but I wouldn't worry about it. I mean, considering that you were running reruns for the longest time and your ratings were still going up. I didn't see the show on Friday(I don't get it out here, still...), but I'm sure it's no big deal. Even if it was a bad ep(which your blog seemed to insinuate) we keep watching, because we know you have the capability to make some good stuff. We've seen it. As long as you keep working with the show and see what the people like, I'm sure the show will go where you want it to. As for the movie thing you keep talking about, perhaps that's another venue(or escape) you can venture with. The documentary will kick ass, I know that for sure. Just give'r, get the word out, and you're set. Alex
.....I'm looking forward to getting lots more emails from you guys so that we can continue to create and inspire some interesting new dilolouge here on the site between all of you out there and me in here. Where here is exactly I'm not sure yet but I know that I'm getting there.......
I'll touch base again with you all later on this week sometime and until then, I'll leave you with what Jims had to say lately.I won't always be able to post all of your emails here but I'll continue to post a few of them here in my blog and be sure to email all of you back as soon as I can. Later guys,
JR
To: jr@jrdigs.com Sent: Saturday, October 01, 2005 6:13 PM Subject: "Taking a Shit" Episode I gotta say, I loved the episode that aired last night.
Sure it might not be jam packed full of jokes, and maybe it didn't have "dialogue". But thats about the most original idea for a TV show ever. Do you see Conan O'Brian sitting on a toilet ever on his show? NO. He doesn't have the balls to pull it off.
Thats just my thoughts on that.-- -Jims.
Feeling Good!
"Come on Feel" is the title of The Lemonheads cd I listened to, two and a half times on my way home from the cottage tonight. It's probably the cd I have listened to more than any other over the last decade or however long it has been since I got it. I picked up the cd a few days after I heard track twelve at a house party I was at a bunch of years ago.Its a quirky little tune and still one of my favorites hardly ever skip over a song on this cd when I play it which is probably why I so often feel compelled to listen to it when I finally grow tired of listening to whatever else I have been listening to at the time I start thinking...." where the hell is Come on Feel,I hope it's in the car here somewhere." Track fourteen might be my favorite song on the disc but that implies that I like it way more than most of the other songs and that's not really true. It was nice to be able to hang out up north for an extra day and extend my weekend a little longer.I would have got home a little earlier today except that my Mom kicked my ass in Gin this weekend which is the card game we started playing at the beginning of the summer. We have been keeping track of wins and loses all summer long and after this weekend, I fell way behind so I needed to play a ton more games today to try and catch up.I've got until we eat all the leftovers from Thanksgiving to catch up because the week after we all get together for Thanksgiving,my folks are leaving for Florida for the winter. It's going to be tough because I'm still pretty far behind in games but ya never know. After an entire summer of playing Gin,the winner gets their name on a trophy so it's kind of a big deal (lol)!!!! I guess I had better start tossing some of these dirty cloths into the washing machine and after that I'll continue looking at some of the emails you guys have sent me.There doesn't seem to be as many to look at as I thought there might be but Tuesday morning I'll pick a couple out and post them here in my blog with hopes that it will inspire more of you to email me with your thoughts on this weekends show, the new series I am currently developing and anything else that might be on your minds. Later guys, JR
Dad thinks I'm Doomed!
I drove up the cottage late last night so that I would be hear first thing this morning to help my folks get ready for a BBQ they are having for all the people who have helped build are family cottage over the last summer and a half. I have never posted a blog from the cottage before because I kind of cherish this place as a sanctuary from anything and everything that makes me think I should be working on the show or a new film project or something else that will somehow propell this so called carreer of mine forward. Having a carreer in the entertainment bussiness is a tricky thing to pull off.My Mom told me this morning while I was pouring a nice hot cup of coffee, that she watched the show last night with my Dad.They both seem to think that my days on television must be coming to an end considering the episode I aired last night.By my second cup of coffee we were engaged in more conversation about last nights show and this carreer of mine than I have ever had before with my Mom. Isn't that a good thing? I think so! I'm curious what some of you guys think............. On Tuesday when I get back from the cottage I hope to find lots of new emails from you guys so that maybe we can get some interesting things happening here on the site. I still haven't heard back from Jay so I'm starting to think he is just some guy with aspirations of a hilarious new cable access show that he will never make happen because putting people down over the internet is always easier than putting your money where your mouth is! Talk is cheap and cheap shots are what the internet is all about for some people.Let's rise above that and get some real dialouge going here guys.If my Mom has this much to say about last nights show,I'm sure that some of you guys do as well. This should be fun.. JR
