THE COLLEGE RADIO SHOW
Great meeting today with some of the folks at the college radio station about the little radio show I've been working on putting together with my good friend "Frankie Colorado" which is what he is calling himself on the radio or at least that's what he told me! Expect to hear a fifteen minute version of the show for the first few weeks until the program director and a few other people there get comfortable with us doing a show that won't get them into too much trouble with the crtc and other governing bodies. I'll see if we can put the mini show on the site here for you guys to download because fifteen minutes won't take that long to download if it's just audio. On the Tv Show this weekend,I ended up putting a little bit of footage of Kayvon at Last weekends Gemini Awards right of the top of the episode as a bit of a tease for whats to come next week when we air the rest of the footage we shot in are annual Gemini Awards Show episode. For the remainder of tonight's show we are airing most of the first episode I ever put together and aired back in the summer of 2001.The special guest was Ed The Sock and it was shot in front of a live studio audience which is how I always imagined my own latenight show to be. I hope I get the opportunity to do it that way again some day but without having to build my own set, book my own guest, slowly lose my mind and then go completely broke trying to keep things rolling which is what happened back then.Anyways? Have a great weekend everybody.
5-1 BRUINS!
Both the emails posted in Wednesdays blog mentioned "My name is Earl" as a funny show the guys liked which is probably why I chose to post them for everyone to read.I'm a huge fan of Jason Lee back to when he wasn't even acting and he was one of the coolest pro skateboarders in the world. To this day, reading about Jason Lee in a skateboard mag reminds me and makes me think of a time when the skateboard and Surfing scene wasn't so full of shit. It was still pure enough that some kid like me who was completely removed from that California scene could still read the magazines and watch the video's and somehow feel connected to it all in an amazing kind of way. These days it's way too dam commercial and full of jerk-off kids and money grubbing adults to make you feel good about it without it being forced down your throught first! As for "The office" and "Lost" as a couple other shows that people seem to be watching,I have to admit,I have only watched one episode of "The office" and I have never watched "Lost",not even once.Wednesdays I go to the movies remember, except for last night because I went to the Leaf game instead. We had great seats about 15 rows up,behind the net and by the end of the game there was hardly anyone left sitting around us because the Leafs were getting creamed! I'm not one of those people who leaves a game early if my team is getting beat and it looks like there is no chance of catching up.Leaf fans aren't really there to watch the game though. They just want to watch their team win and that's the only reason they are there. Not all Leaf fans of coarse but most of the ones in the good seats where I was last night. It's cool that my girlfriend is kind of a bigshot and is given a few tickets to games by her company, otherwise I would never get to sit in seats like that for a Leaf game.We had a great night. After a nice dinner,I later ate a massive giant hotdog, drank a couple beers and ate a giant pretzel at the game.I'm now more convinced than ever that Allison is a lazy uninspired hockey player who will never rise to the kind of player he once was in the old NHL.See I've still got opinions about sports and stuff. My friend Brian thinks all I care about anymore is artsy crap like making movies and television which isn't exaclty true!Lindros for example continues to impress me and I'm amazed at how quick he still is for a big guy and he's still got incredibly good hands.I have met Eric a couple different times before and he's a pretty nice guy or at least he was to me. Do you guys remember the time I went down to the Leaf playoff game against Philly with a handheld camera and I was wearing an 88 jersey.I heckled Leaf fans and pretended I was from Philadelphia and had come to see the game and cheer my team on to victory. At one point some dude chased me and I thought I was going to get beat up.He never did catch me though! It was hilarious! I should do that again sometime and put the footage here in my blog for you guys.I don't do enough stupid stuff anymore. Well I should get back to work here. There is still lots of footage left for me to look at from The Gemini Awards from last Saturday night. Later guys.
What you guys have to say Wednesday....
Subject: Tuesdays and Wednesdays Message: Yo JR! So you wanna know about peoples' tuesdays and wednesdays huh. Its usually semi-good for me on tuesdays, I've got night school to go however two of my favourites on TV during that time My Name Is Earl and The Office, especailly The Office. So I tape them and watch it when I come back. Wednesdays I watch Lost, you should check it out if you haven't already. I don't know whats the deal with the K-Lite top ten shows, but lets just assume you were #1, anyways gotta get back to study'in. George C.
Subject: Any movies or Tv shows you have seen lately that are any good? Message: Hey JR, it's been a while since I've sent you any emails... I've been busy with work, and I only do the 9-5 sort of thing, so I have no idea how you get to relax, but I give you props, keep up the great work. And I doubt that your show is on the bottom 10 list. Look at the ratings that Canadian Idol gets and how popular they are. The only reason your show made that list is because it IS popular, just that the one guy who made the list decided he didn't like it. Don't take it personally, you will never make everyone happy, you just have to aim to please the majority by doing your thing, don't do what "they" want you to, you don't want to be a script. I was reading your blog and you asked "Any movies or Tv shows you have seen lately that are any good?". Yes. "My Name is Earl" is a great show. It's on Tuesday (honestly I don't actually know what time it's on at because I've had to download every episode since #1...I'm too busy to watch it until the weekend). Today is no different, I'm heading out to demetres, which is by Famous, so maybe I'll spot you and say hi. Check out "My Name is Earl" if you get the chance, its a rather humours show, I don't have time to write a brief summary of it, so here is a link instead; http://www.nbc.com/My_Name_Is_Earl/ Cheers.
Tuesday is the new Wednesday.
I'm heading out to see a movie in a little bit instead of going on Wednesday night which is when we usually go to the movies. On Wednesday night I'm going to the Leaf game against Boston so we can't go to the movies unless we wanted to find a really late movie somewhere which would be kind of stupid. Why pack everything into one night when I can spread it out over the entire week. What do some of you guys do on Tuesday and Wednesday nights? Any movies or Tv shows you have seen lately that are any good? I still haven't heard from anyone about this top ten list. Are you guys emailing them and just not getting any responses back regarding where I am on their list? I gotta get going now or I'll miss the trailers and I like watching them to see what looks good for Xmas movies this year.Later guys.
NOT ENOUGH OF A HAM!
Hey guys, I have yet to get any info regarding this top ten list of the worst Canadian television shows on TV according to sunniandhayes@K-litefm.com but I'm sure that at least one of you out there can find out where I was on their list. I've been working all day on this weeks episode that we shot at The Gemini Awards on Saturday night.Lots of awards were given to people in Canadian television and after looking at this footage all day today,I'm thinking I need some new found inspiration to make a good episode for this week. I need to improve upon my ranking on this top ten list! Maybe that's the inspiration I'm looking for right now. If I only knew what shows I have to be better than this week, I'm sure I could pull it together, dig down deep and string all this footage together and make a pretty damn good episode! Maybe even better than damn good! Maybe some leftover perogies would be good to eat right now.I wonder what goes good with perogies other than ham. There isn't any of that leftover from dinner last night.Hmmm?
LAST NIGHT @ THE GEMINI AWARDS
About an hour before I took off for Toronto yesterday to shoot some footage at the Gemini Awards,I got an email from jjshorty who some of you will remember as a regular from the message board we use to have here on the site. Apparently the morning show host on K-lite FM last week were talking about what shows they thought were the top ten worst Canadian shows on TV and JJShorty's Dad who listens to that radio station said my show was on their list.He said Canadian Idiol was on their list as well but I don't know too much else other than that. Looks like I need your help a little bit here guys.Ask your Parents or your Uncle Jack or any other old people you know who might listen to that station if they heard anything about this top ten list of the worst Canadian shows on Tv.Maybe they have a website or have posted the list somewhere, help me find out guys. After being at the Gemini Awards last night and seeing what shows were actually nominated for awards,I've now become pretty damn curious where I actually end up fitting into the Canadian television scene. Is my show the second worst Canadian show on Tv or is it the fifth worse in their opinion? I really gotta know! As for the awards show last night,I asked Kayvon to meet me to work the red carpet but he didn't make it their on time which is all I will say about that right now because you will find out what happened to him when you watch the show this week.Eventually he made it too the awards show and I got him access to the media room where he scared the hell out of Ken Finkelman and a few other Canadian type Tv people who had won awards and were giving interviews. It was hilarious and I'm really looking forward to editting the footage on Monday morning.Tonight I'm kicking back and watching Tv like I have done every Sunday night for the last few months now. It's all these HBO shows that have got me hooked on Sunday night TV now and tonight is the final episode of their newest hit series ROME. Vic is yelling at me right now to come and eat with her so I gotta go guys. She cooked up some perogies and ham and some other stuff.MMmmmMmmmm!
Memories of Last Winter....
......finally,I found it guys! Click Here and you can check out some of this footage Shane and I shot last year after a huge dump of snow that we got like I was mentioning earlier. More recently shot footage can be seen on the show this weekend because shane put together a pretty cool promo for the new series and I have it airing right off the top of the show and up to the first commercial break.I hope you guys check it out, Shane did a good job on it! Keep the emails coming. It's really great to start hearing from all of you again. It reminds me that you guys are all still out there reading ,watching and waiting to see what I'm doing next.Later, JR
Last Night at the Movies.
On are way into my favorite panzarotti place last night for dinner we noticed some snowflakes falling from the sky which are the first ones I've seen since last winters. After dinner we went to the movies to see Pride and Prejudice because Vic wanted to see it and I'm o.k. with seeing these kinds of movies if they are good and it was. It's refreshing to see a good movie that doesn't end up getting ruined because some suit thought some big name actor like Brad Pitt or Jude Law should play the lead role. On my way into the empty theatre I noticed a pretty familiar face. It was Mike Bullard. I didn't say hi or anything because we were walking in opposite directions and I've only ever met him once before so its not like we know eachother. I wonder how he is doing these days or if I'll see him again at the Gemini awards on Saturday. I'll talk about that a little bit more on Friday or Saturday before I go. One of these days I'll also talk a little more about this new series I', producing. One of the short films that is being featured is written and directed by Shane "the camera man" Cunningham so I've been talking with Shane a lot lately. I was working a bunch with Shane on the show last year at this time as well, as a matter of fact. I think we even shot some video last year not too long after a huge snow fall that we got which might not be too far off now. Give me a few minutes and I'll see if I can find it somewhere.....
What's up, it's Wednesday?
Usually on Wednesday I've been posting peoples emails on account of it being "What you guys have to say Wednesday." Apparently you guys haven't had too much to say lately because there hasn't really been that many emails from you guys so far this week. I suppose I should post at least a couple emails but I would rather use the time here to somehow inspire and encourage more of you to email me. It's awesome hearing from people and now that I am in full repeat mode with the show for the rest of the year, more than ever it will be cool for me to know you guys are sticking with me and will keep spreading the word about my new series that goes on the air in January. What about your favorite TV shows and movies. I love TV and I still go to the movies pretty much every Wednesday so it would be great to hear what your favorite movies are. Has anyone watched Random One yet on A&E?. Did you guys think Jarhead was a good movie? Am I getting all soft these days because I love this Random One series. I can't stay up late enough anymore to watch Conan. Is Conan as popular as he was a year or so ago and does anyone ever watch Craig Ferguson on the Late Late Show and what ever happened to the dude who use to host that show? Carson Daily looks odd now that he has lost a bunch of weight, don't you guys think so or is it just me who thinks that? Will the Raptors ever win a game and did you guys know that I use to be a pretty good basketball player? I ate almost an entire meal last night walking around Costco with my buddy Brian. There were tons of sample tables everywhere so I had sushi, chocolate, crackers and cheese and tons of ham until the woman got mad at us. Ok so I gotta fly now guys.I'm going to the movies tonight after we go out for dinner. I look forward to all your emails, hopefully I've mentioned at least a couple things to email me about. JR
A little ink on Grandpa!
I just mailed Larry a thank you card with his $10.00 bucks in it. I think it's awesome when people do nice things for other people especially when the people are complete strangers. That is a truly selfless act of kindness and I guarantee you that if more people just started being a bit nicer to eachother once in a while this world would become a better place to live in for sure. Anyone ever seen that show on A&E called Random One? I love that show, It inspires me! On the other side of being polite and nice to eachother, often I make a point of saying "your welcome" kinda loud after I have held a door open for someone and they walk right on by without saying thankyou.I guess it's my way of saying "hey, would it kill ya to be just a little bit polite here". Is it so tough to take a second to be polite? I don't think so! What's wrong with some people? One time a few months ago I even stopped my car beside someone who tossed some paper garbage out of their car window onto the street. I said Shame on you for being a litter bug as I did the shame on you finger sign. They rolled down their window because they couldn't hear me and in a very happy kind of voice I said once again, "Shame on you for being a litter bug". The lady wasn't sure what to say to me but I hope she thinks twice before littering again. So before I get back to making more blog's that don't necessarily have anything too meaningful about them, I wanted to let you guys know that I finally scanned a newspaper articles that was written about my Grandpa and I put it on the site here for you guys to read if your interested in doing so. Click Here to read the article.Remembrance day was last Friday but it doesn't mean that's the only day we should take the time to remember men like my Grandpa and what they did for all of us.Thanks for your interest in what I have had to say in these last few post guy's.Pretty heavy stuff I know but if even one of you took the time to think about anything I have been talking about lately then I'm glad I took the time to blog about it. Anything interesting on your minds lately? Let me know.
Ten Bucks Short.
Hey guys, I just got back from a few days up north at the cottage where I plan on spending at least a few days a week over the next few months writing scripts and working on diffent stuff without having to constantly be distracted like I am down here. It's great spending time at our family cottage and with Mom and Dad in Florida now for the winter, I'm the only one who ever goes up there. Last night there were these kick ass winds coming off the lake that actually blew down one of our neighbor's big huge pine trees. Mother nature is awesome! Oh, there's something else I should tell you guys about. On Friday I went down to where my Grandpa and Grandma are buried in Simcoe. Friday was remembrance day so I wanted to put some sort of wreath or something at the gravesite. I found this cool kind of pine tree, coniferous sort of arrangement that will last throughout the winter which seemed like a good idea but when I went to pay for it, I realized it was way more expensive than I thought and I ended up being $10.00 bucks short at the till. I went out to my car to see if I had some loonies or twoonies in the ashtray and this guy walks up to me and says "how much do you need". He was behind me at the till and noticed that I was short some cash. Turns out I didn't have any change in my car at all so he gave me $10.00 bucks and his phone number at work so I could get a hold of him to pay it back later. I just got off the phone with him before I started typing out this blog. Cool story eh? For no reason other than to help a complete stranger out, this guy loaned me $10.00 bucks, how awesome is that! I called him just now so I could say thanks once again and to let him know that I will be sending him his $10.00 bucks back on Tuesday morning. I couldn't do it today because I was up north still. I just thought of a nice way for me to wrap up and tie this blog all together here. My grandpa who now has a nicely decorated gravesite because of the $10.00 bucks Larry loaned me, loved being up north. I use to go camping up north every summer with my grandparents when I was a kid. After my Grandma passed away, Grandpa wasn't doing so good so I asked a friend of mine if I could use his cottage for a couple days and take my Grandpa up north like he use to take me. I ended up shooting some video while we were there to show everyone in my family. How about now I show it to you guys as well. I'm also going to scan a few newspaper articles that were written about my grandpa and get them on the site here for you guys to read if you want. I'll do that a little later, for now you can check out these home movies of Grandpa and I up north if you are interested. Click Here to view the footage but please disregard the laim ass laugh track I've got on some of this footage. For some reason I guess I thought my family would think it was funny to have a bad laugh track on this footage and now its the only copy I have.
On Remembrance Day.
On the 11th hour of the 11th day on this, the 11th month, I took a few moments to stop what I was doing and reflect about what my Grandfather went through to make sure we all have the kind of life we enjoy today. The sun has suddenly started to shine brightly in my little part of the world and I think it would be nice to take the rest of the day off and go for a drive.I'm going to head down to Simcoe where both my Grandparents are now buried and I'll spend the time thinking about the amazing life I shared with them. All the craziness, the laughter and the good times we continue to share as a family is because that's how Grandma and Grandpa wanted it.It's always been that way since I was a little kid.I would love to talk a little more about this right now but I should get going and enjoy the bright sunshine on my drive down to Simcoe. Later on when I have more time I will put some video of my Grandpa on the site here as well as some newspaper articles that were written about him and his experiences in the war as a reconnaissance photogragher. Grandpa loved all the stupid crazy stuff we did together for my show but this was always a day that he was very serious about and so am I.There's a time and a place for everything I guess.Make some time to remember all those men and what they did guys. It's important!
KIND OF A CORKER!
Hey guys,I figured I may as well make a quick post right now while I am taking a break from editting and looking through old footage in some of my old shows.Until January it looks like I'm going to be airing alot more old footage and tons of promo's for the new series. Loyd mentioned in his email which was posted in yesterdays blog that he is looking forward to the new season.I'm with you Loyd! In Daves email,he suggested that he would do anything to work with me so I'm thinking that might make for an intesting episode instead of airing another old show one week. Nick wasn't even aware that the show is back on the air which sucks because I get lots of emails like his.People got use to the show being on Saturday nights so a new timeslot after being off the air for six months has been kind of a corker! Apparently Shane posted a picture of me and him on Tom Green's website and he wanted to make sure that was cool.I checked out the site to look for the picture so I could try and remember what Shane looked like and when the pic might have been taken and I was impressed to see how many fans post pictures on Tom's site.Dude has had a pretty damn good carreer I tell ya.It's cool to see how loyal fans can be.You guys are going to have to wait a long long time and be crazy in the head to stick with me long enough to enjoy the kind of carreer Tom Green has had! I guess maybe that answers Dan's question about Tom being on 102.1 The Edge the other day and me not going on the morning show with those guys any more.Tom is out promoting his new rap album these days and the reason you never hear me on the morning show on 102.1 any more is because Dean and Todd pretty much hate my guts I guess.I'm not sure why and I don't really want to get into what the reasons probably are because it's all just negative shit I don't want to even think about any more in my life.As soon as you get hot again everybody loves you again and that's just the way this industry is I guess.I'm getting use to that now. It was alot of fun when I use to go on the morning show with those guys all the time and I'm glad to hear Dan thought it made for hilarious radio. It's a good thing to feel good about stuff. It's easier to think about being funny when you are feeling good as well. That's important for me again these days! Whow, this little break of mine has turned into some sort of deep blog entry all of a sudden.I gotta get back to editting before I feel like crashing.I can't stay up late anymore like I use to.I need more stress in my life again to keep me up all night I guess (lol). Have a great night if you plan on staying up for a while yet guys.
What you guy's have to say Wednesday's...
Here are a few more emails that have been sent to me recently which seem to echo the thoughts of a bunch of other people out there who have sent me similar kinds of emails.I can't post everyones emails but every Wednesday I will continue posting at least two or three for everyone to check out... Subject: pic on tomgreen.com Hello... I know I just emailed you...with a really trite poem... but, I posted a pic of you and I at the TO film festival on Tom Green's fan blog. Check it out...I hope you don't mind. Cheers, Shane Subject: I'll do anything! I'll do anything to work with you! Dave
Subject: Fan Mail Jr, I was just watching your show where you were trying to interview people at the biker show. I think that this episode was really funny! I can't wait until your new season! Thanks, LLOYD :)
Subject:JR on 102.1 HiJR,I was wondering about something.I heard that Tom Green was on the radio on 102.1 this morning and I remember how you use to be on that radio station all the time. How come I never here about you being on that radio station doing funny shit anymore like you use to.Do they have Tom Green on the radio now instead of you? I hope that's not the case because that would suck, you were hilarious on the radio when you were on it the couple of times I was listening live in the morning. So what's going on? Dan
Subject: yo hey JR u fucking rock, hope u get back on the air!!!!!!!! Nick
JOKES BY ANDREW"the psycho fan"
Dam it's nice outside today! Days like this just gotta make you smile and feel good no matter how crappy your life may be! Even Andrew"the psycho fan" has gotta be feeling good today! If all this sunshine and great weather isn't putting a smile on your face, then maybe some jokes from Andrew will..... Click Here
A conversation with Andrew"the psycho fan".
I'm meeting with my old pal Shane"the camerman Cunningham"this afternoon to talk about the short film he is writing and directing as part of my new series that will be on the air this January.I know I haven't talked about too many of the details regarding this new series I am producing but I will really soon, I promise! I have talked a little about the radio show I've been trying to put together over the last few months and after taking the weekend to think more about this fifteen minute spot on Thursday mornings that's been offered to me as some sort of way to prove myself or something like that,I have now decided to swallow my pride and take it.It's not my own radio show but it's a place to start! It kind of makes me laugh now, to be honest.I have a Nationally aired television show,a growing and very loyal fan base and yet I can't get my local Tv cable access station to want to work with me and produce a quirky new latenigh talk show nor can I can't get a local college radio station to give me my own latenight radio show! It's like this is never going to get any easier for me and I am going to have to sacrifice and work my ass off for everything I get.It feels like Lucky breaks must just be for other people or maybe I have just used all mine up.Success always seemed to come pretty easy for me until I got into the entertainment racket. Now it feels like I am going to have to force and make everything happen for myself in the persuit of this stupid dream of mine or it just ain't going to happen at all. No wonder I have this ulcer that is eating away at my guts every day now.Plus I have been gaining alot of weight again the last few months because eating right before I go to bed sometimes coats my stomach and the pain then goes away long enough for me to at least fall asleep. Speaking of pain and somehow finding the will to keep pluggin away at this so called life, here is a conversation I recorded with Andrew"the psycho fan" the other day.... Click here to view ! On Tuesday I will post the end of are conversation that features a few jokes Andrew has been working on lately. Right now I have to go meet with the program director at the radio station and let him know I'd be happy to take this fifteen minute "show me what you got" spot that he is offering me on his station. See ya later guys.
HBO on the movie network.
I like watching movies as all of you know but mostly I like going to the movies to watch movies. It's the HBO shows that I mostly watch on the movie network, not the movies! Sunday nights are great for watching Tv and their are some really awesome HBO shows on the movie network Sunday nights.Curb Your Enthusiasm was hilarious tonight and Larry David is one of the funniest men in Television. At 9:00pm Rome is on which I am starting to get into but not nearly as much as Entourage which I have been telling you guys about since I watched the first episode of season one ages ago now. Entourage is on at 10:00pm after Rome.Tonights episode was the one with U2 in it.It was pretty cool for me to have been at that ultra exclusive party I was at on the closing night of the Film Festival and have Bono walk right by me especially considering he was only there for all of about three minutes.I'm still chocked that the photographer who took those pics of me and LL Cool J never ended up sending me any of them.I digress...... So after Entourage, The Comeback is on and I always end up watching at least half of it until I realize how much I hate Lisa Kudrow in this show and then I watch a little more as if I'm under some sort of spell and I hate myself for it ever time. After an amazing night of brilliant HBO television, watching The Comeback somehow makes you think that the folks at HBO aren't all that impressive and as invincible as you maybe thought they were until next Sunday when Curb Your Enthusiasm comes on agian. Then all those HBO shows start once again filling the Tv screen with brilliance and perfection and it's worth watching Tv again. I saw Jarhead at the movies Saturday night. It was less than perfect and hardly brilliant at all.Just because you use a classic Nirvana song in a scene that is suppose to be all intense,it doesn't just automatically make the scene all deep and intense and captivating somehow.Once again I digress... Expect a recorded phone conversation with Andrew "the psycho fan"in my blog on Monday guys.I'm picking up the cable I need first thing in the morning and then I will finally be able to get the footage into my computer and onto the site here. By the way,at 11:00pm on the movie network on Sunday nights, you can watch a couple more hours of classic HBO television if you want because back to back episodes of The Sopranos are on. I'll be watching "Riding Giants"tonight which is a very cool Surfing Doc about Big Wave Surfing.Later, JR
WILD TURKEYS!
I'm going to take the weekend to think a little more about this fifteen minute radio spot I can have on my local college radio station so I'll let you guys know what I'm going to do on Monday probably! I've been working hard the last couple days on another five minute video to send to my new Entertainment lawyer dude who has recently set up an office in LA. He is super hooked up down there now and represents a lot of Canadian funnyman who have made it big in the US which seems to be the only way a guy can get any attention from any network type people here in Canada. I had an interesting conversation with Andrew"the psycho fan" earlier this week but I'm still having trouble getting the footage from my old hi8 camera into the computer so I can get it on the site here. The footage I shot earlier this week at the cottage seems to have digitized ok but it's not really worth watching because the camera jammed up on me and stopped recording just as I began running through the woods chasing some wild turkeys. It was awesome because I almost caught one and I would have loved to see what the footage looked like as I was running like a complete idiot chasing these turkeys. Ok maybe I didn't come that close to actually catching one but it was fun trying. click here to view the footage I did end up shooting if you want to. I'll try and get my phone conversation with Andrew on the site sometime this weekend. Don't forget about the show being on tonight. It's another repeat! Sometime soon,I'll fill all of you in a little more about this new series I've working on.I'm pretty pumped about it.Later guys, JR
WHAT UP WEDNESDAY!
"What you guys have to say Wedensday" is here again and this is what some of you had to say lately.... Subject: Radio Show Message:Hey JR, Just thought I would give you my two cents on the subject, you know what? I think you should do the radio show, sure it's starting at the bottom, but if you think about it's kinda like what you did with your tv show. You tried to get a network deal, and couldn't so you bought your air time, and got your show on the air. and now it's bringing in beter ratings that saturday night live, and on what like three or more stations. so sure it would only be fifteen minutes, but you can still make it interesting, heck maybe bring people in off of the streets to talk on the radio, you seem to be lucky at finding crazy and weird people. and eventually you'll get a full tim eshow, maybe I'll mass email them or something, lol. Well best of luck wworrall Subject: your show is awsome. Message: man i dont care what anyone says your show is awsome # 1 you have the guts to go out and try a show like yours man the best episode was the halloween one when you and your grandpa were handing out candy i almost pissed my pants watching that man send me a copy.Your awsome. Jack Subject: Keep the Spirit Alive! Message: Hey JR, there's no shame in feeling down when you get any of those deals, but remember WE the fans are still supporting you. I've been watching every episode, even that one when all you did was sit on the toilet hte whole episode. I need a new camera.
Great to hear from you guys. Thanks for all the feedback and advice on what you guys think I should do regarding this potential new radio gig I've been talking about. Keep spreading the word about jrdigs.com to all your friends and to everyone at work and at school because judging by the increased amount of emails I'm getting these days, lots more people must be checking out the site which is pretty cool. I was hoping to have the video I shot at the cottage yesterday on the site by now but I'm having some problems at the moment plus I noticed that the camera shut off on me while shooting which I didn't notice at the time.I guess because I was chasing some wild turkeys through the woods. It was awesome and hardly any of it got taped which really sucks.I gotta get a new camera I think! Maybe later this week,I'll get that video on the site here as well as a taped phone conversation I had with Andrew "the psycho fan" about Halloween. Stay tuned........ JR
FIFTEEN MINUTES OF FAME!
Rolled in from the cottage last night and I shot a little video while I was up there so I'll make some time later on today to get it on the site for you guys to check out. Stay tuned.... Just got on email from the program director at the local college radio station and although they still won't give me my own radio show,it looks like they are willing to give me a fifteen minute spot on Thursday mornings to try me out I guess. If I swallow my pride and say yes,I have to agree to get the radio spot approved each week before it goes on the air.I'm guessing they are still worried that I will do some dumb ass shit and get them in trouble with the CRTC or something like that. Not to bring up the subject of being compared to Tom Green again but I have found that over the years it's often been the kiss of death for me.Lot's of times I've been denied access to events and functions ect.that would have been fun to shoot footage at because someone tells the person in charge that I am a Tom Green kinda guy and the person automatically thinks that I am going to do some crazy prank or try and piss a bunch of people off and shoot footage of it.The truth is that I've never done that kind of stuff and it sucks that people think I have.Being outrageous was something Tom Green did very well and if people think that's what my show is suppose to be like then no wonder they are disappointed and they don't like my show . After all these years,I never ended up being outrageous or shocking enough for some people yet there are those who have always seemed concerned and worried that I might do something ridiculous and stupid which makes things like getting your own radio show, a real challenge. This seems like a good topic for a radio show if you ask me(lol).Maybe Tom will come on the radio with me and talk about it some.I saw him on Much Music this morning while I was flipping through the channels so he must be in Toronto right now. This all brings me back to what I was originally talking about here which was this radio spot. What do you think guys, should I just take what I can get or what? Look forward to hearing from all of you!Later, JR
