Time to get SIRIUS!

Hey guys,it looks like you will have to wait until Monday to meet the new co-op student Doug.

Today turned out to be a crazy ass day full of meeting and stuff so I told Doug not to bother coming in until Monday. Expect him to begin his first official project first thing Monday morning. Every day he will shoot some footage, ask me some questions and try giving you guys a look into what goes on around here on a daily basis. The less I have to jam away on this key board each week the better so I'm looking forward to posting way more video here in my blog again.

I'm sure it will make things a little more interesting on the site here again which is cool and after todays meetings,it looks like things are about to get a lot more interesting with regards to your old pal JR on television as well. I can't wait to be able to tell you all about everything that is going on these days but for now I'm going to do what I am told and shut up.

That's not why we didn't do a radio show this week although there are some people who think I might say stuff I shouldn't if they actually start letting me go live to air each week. What is happening is that we are getting a new time slot and we are in fact going to begin broadcasting live to air each week starting next Friday at 9:00am! I'm really looking forward to it! Stay tuned for more details.

In other radio news, I'm all set up to hear Howard Stern again! Kent at Keiths Stereo in Burlington just hooked me up with a sweet ass SIRIUS satellite radio system for my car. I spent the last hour at Keiths getting it installed and learning about all the cool features and stuff. Now I just want to go out and drive around for a couple hours and have a listen but I am meeting Vic for dinner and I'm already late. I'll have to bounce back here sometime over the weekend and let you know how the new radio sounds and give you the low down about my Friday night.

I really do have to get going here.Later guys.

MY BEST IDEA IN WEEKS!

So it was around 9:15pm last night on my way over to the computer to follow up with my blog entry when it happened. I was still thinking about American idol and I was going to tell you guys that Bucky should be the next one to go when there was a knock on the door.

I went to the door,I opened it and their she was.A girl I had met a few weeks earlier and she was holding this really expensive crystal egg that belongs to my parents. She told me to follow her if I ever wanted to see the egg again. She took me on a train ride and we had wild crazy sex.....no wait a minute, that was Tom Cruise in Risky business. That's not what happened last night at all!

The truth is that I ended up watching The sopranos and then The Amazing Race and then I just went to bed. Sometimes I just don't feel like sitting in front of the key board guys.Plus I'm pretty sure I have adult ADD.I get bored of stuff fast and sitting here punching away on the key board is something I do when I have to send someone an email. It's not something I like doing for fun.

That being said,I just came up with a great new way for me to keep you guys in the loop and to stay in touch.Doug is a co-op student who is going to be helping me with some stuff around here for the next couple months. His first full day is on Friday.I'm thinking I am going to introduce you guys to him and then create this cool new project for him to work on.Over the course of each day,he will shoot video, ask me questions, catch candid moments and then cut something together for me to post in my blog for you guys to check out.I'll even set up an email address for Doug so that you guys can tell him what questions you want to ask me or what kind of stuff you want to see video of around here. I think it will be really cool and it will make it super easy for me to touch base with you guys on a daily basis. I often feel bad that I don't update my blog enough any more and it's not because I don't want to,it's just that I'm slow on the key board and it takes me forever to say what I want to say sometimes.I hate that!

Maybe that is why the live Tv thing yesterday was so cool. All I had to do was show up,hang out, talk about stuff for a while and then it was all done. There is no chance to think too much about doing anything better or re-cutting anything so that it is funnier. It's live and that's it! I gotta get myself a gig like that,I really do. It was a riot.

See,now I'm off track again, back to Doug. How about on Friday after I introduce you guys to Doug,I'll get things rolling by talking about the case of the missing pie the other day at lunch at Williams Pub in Burlinton. I'll fill you guys in a little more about going on Smith & Hayes on Tuesday and I'll let you know what plans I have for the weekend.

I guess that's that! Later guys.

Tuesday, March 28, 2006

Stay Tuned.....

Details on "the case of the missing piece of pie" at Williams pub,my afternoon on live television and more.....all after I get something to eat and watch American Idol.

JR DIGS LIVE!

Awesome meeting today at the Network.Things are about to get interesting.

Crappy experience at lunch today at Williams Pub.I'll tell you guys about it later.I gotta fly right now!

& oh ya,I'm going on live television on Tuesday at 12:30pm on CH as a quest on their afternoon talk show with Matt Hayes.Should be fun!

Yeah it's Spring...

What up guys. Don't you just love when spring rolls around.March madness sets in and just like that it gives all us Leaf fans something worth watching on television again.

By the amount of email I have received over this past week, it looks like there are a few more people tuning into my show these days as well which is cool. Over the last couple weeks a few of my older episodes were aired and honestly,it kinda makes a guy wonder why all of a sudden there is such an increase in the amount of emails rolling in from you guys again.Hmmmm

For the next little while we will continue airing previously aired episodes while I work on my first real season of my new series. The handfull of pilot episodes that some of you may have seen were produced and aired as kind of a test to see if this new series was worth developing any further. It looks like it is!

Viewers, potential new sponsors and the suits at the Network all seem interested in seeing what I can spin my new series into this spring. Eight new episodes are currently scheduled to be produced which means there will be eight new short films and two full months of brand new episodes to watch this spring and summer.

I have a huge meeting with the folks at Global first thing on Monday morning so if all goes well,I will have good news to pass along to you guys this week regarding the details of my spring and summer schedule.

Right now,I need to stop punching away at these keys and get my ass outside for a couple hours. It's super nice out today.Tonight I'll be working on stuff in preparation for my meeting in the morning and later on tonight,it's another new episode of The sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasm as well I think.

Hope you guys are all doing well,it's been great to hear from some of you. Thanks for the questions for Laura. If you haven't listen to last weeks radio spot then you won't know what I mean by that.

Later guys,I'll touch base again sometime on Monday probably.

Frankie apologizes.

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Two things I'm going to do tonight...

1)Laundry

2)Watch American Idol and hope that geek boy finally gets the boot this week.

note:I'll probably be watching the Leaf game and The Amazing Race tonight as well but all these things really just count as watching TV which is one of the two things I'm going to do tonight.

Three things I did so far today...

1)Grabbed a coffee and had an early morning walk with Emma this morning while the ground was still frozen and not just mud. Emma didn't even need a bath afterwards for a change which was cool.

2)Spent most of the morning in meetings with potential new sponsors of the new series and had a half hour lunch meeting with a network dude from Global. He's one of the good guys who is setting some big meeting up for me next week at the network to talk about the direction of this new series. I know there is lots of potential for this new series but I need the support of the network to take things where I want them to go.

3)Stopped back here for two seconds to check emails before I head to the radio station to record this weeks radio spot. Call me! We will be in the studio from 3:45 until 4:15pm this afternoon. (905)528-9888

The worst thing about....

The worst thing about the spring is that it's really muddy out on the trails where I like to walk Emma. Cleaning her up afterwards absolutely sucks because she goes in every stream and mud pit along the trail. I just spent forty minutes trying to clean all the mud off of her.

I'm hoping to find some good dog shampoo at the Sportsman Show in Toronto this afternoon. I like going to all these shows every spring. The cottage show is coming up in a few weeks as well I think. We need a new dock this summer so that's what I will be looking at this year.

The sopranos is on again tonight.Did any of you guys see last weeks episode? Ps:It was a vanilla milkshake that I ended up making myself last night.

HOMETOWN LOVE!

Nice to see Pozz and Nash getting a little ink in their home town newspaper.

click here if you are interested in checking out the article and if you haven't seen the episode featuring Nash's Robot's yet,it's on again tonight at 12:30am on CH in Ontario.

Sorry about not making all that many updates on my blog the last little while guys.I gotta figure out a way to make it easier and quicker for me to do more video logs(VLOGS)so that I don't have to punch away on this key board every time I just want to touch base with you guys.

Saying that I am a little bit slow on the key board here would be a huge, huge huge, massive understatement. It makes updating my blog a bit of a drag sometimes and I often feel like I just don't have the time to do it as much as I would like to.

Anyways...any of you been watching basketball over the last couple days? I'm totally into it this year and thats what I plan on doing for the rest of the night tonight. I'm going to head out right now and pick up some ribs and a bunch of other stuff to eat and then I'm going to just sit my ass in front of the Tv for the rest of the night and do nothin but eat and watch the tube.I will more than likely be checking email at some point tonight as well so maybe drop me a line if you want to.It's always great to hear from you guys.

You know what,I think I might just buy some icecream and make myself a milkshake to drink tonight. What do you think about that?

Good Times,Bad Mic's.

We were back to pre-recording the radio show again this week.

Last Thursday we were live to air on CFMU 93.3 for are weekly radio spot we have been doing over the last little while now. It turned out to be way more fun and the studio mic's in the live to air studio at the station sounded way better than the ones we have to use in the studio where we go each week to pre-record the radio spot. I even tried switching Mic's with Aaron who is are sound guys to see if things would sound any better but I think it sounded even worse than it usually does.

click here to listen and you can hear it for yourself.

"The BOlts & Nuts of Hoes & Sluts"

Let me know what you guys thought of the episode and the short film by Chris Nash.

Here is what the newly appointed jrdigs.com movie critic Kevin Robertson had to say about the movie....

...In a week in which the "Oscars" brought the world together to celebrate "excellence" in filmmaking; it is entirely fitting in that"Fade In" with JR Digs has brought us all together once more, to celebrate "excellence" in independent, low-budget, short filmmaking.

"The Bolts and Nuts of Hoes and Sluts" is a tragic, cautionary tale about the dangers of Loose-Women and the effect they have on Immigrant Sex-Robots. It is a Sci-Fi, "Fish-out-of-Water", Sexploitation picture that effectively explores the disappearance of the Sex-Robot culture, and their forced assimilation into our society. It also addresses the crippling effects "LOVE" has within the
Sex-Robot community.

"LOVE" is the ultimate virus. It can ooze its way through any firewall and corrode and corrupt the circuits of even the most hardwired Sex-Robot.It robs "S-xtraterrestrials" of their ambition and motivation to achieve their goals in life (to have sex with and impregnate EVERY woman on the planet) and reduces them to such depths of despair that they are barely even able to
communicate(never mind impregnate).

It is truly heartbreaking to watch "PAX" suffer through the "malfunctions" of his close friends "ROC" and "PHIL"; only to end up succumbing to the virus himself. The last scene, in which "PAX" realizes he is malfunctioning and then quietly dies in front of his television set, is the most haunting image I have ever seen in a movie.

What the movie "Philadelphia" did for the awareness of "AIDS" in the Gay Community, "The Bolts and Nuts of Hoes and Sluts" does for the awareness of "LOVE" in the Sex-Robot Community.

If you missed last nights episode and you live in Ontario, you have one more chance to see it.Next Saturday night on CH television at 12:30am. Tonight on CH at 12:30am in Ontario viewers have one last chance to see the movie "COPS".Check out my review of this short film which was posted in JR's blog last Saturday.

LIVE TO AIR without a hitch...

Cool that some of you guys called into the radio station this morning but it's too bad that we weren't allowed to talk to any of you live on the air.

Turns out that they had to keep the lines open for people calling in to pledge money for the pledge drive going on this week and for sure there was some concern that someone might call in and go all loopy and say stuff that would get us all in trouble. It's the first time we have been live to air at CFMU 93.3 so I suppose I should just be happy that management seemed cool with how things went this morning. Looks like we might be able to keep the ball rolling now and go live to air again next week as well. That would be awesome and way more fun!

I'll keep you guys posted and maybe next week we can actually take some of your calls. It would be fun talking to you guys live on the air and be able to make everyone a part of this little radio experiment.

Click here and listen to us live to air this morning.

LIVE TO AIR!

Before I get into talking about lost gloves, wolves and blockparties, I want to let everyone know that Thursday morning something cool is happening! Something you guys will want to know about.

Everyone knows all about my little radio experiment right? Every Thursday morning for the last month or so,my buddy and I have been on the local College radio station (CFMU 93.3fm)at 9:30am and I'm assuming you guys know that it's not live.We go in Tuesday afternoons and pre-record the spot so that the station manager can make sure I don't say anything too crazy and get them in trouble.Once the spot is approved by management,it goes on the air Thursday mornings at 9:30am which has become are regular timeslot. I have no idea why there was so much concern about what I might do or say on the radio but letting us go live to air each week was an idea that got squashed back when I first approached the station manager about doing something on the air on 93.3!

Well guess what?

All this week the station is fund raising for next years budget and the station manager wanted everyone to do there radio shows live so that listeners could call in and pledge money. How could he encourage everyone to go on the air live and then tell us we still weren't allowed to.That's right,he couldn't so tomorrow morning at 9:30am,Frankie and I go live to air for the very first time. It's going to be awesome!

You just know that the program manager and anyone else who has been concerned about me getting everyone at the station in trouble with the CRTC will be hovering around the station Thursday morning before we go on the air.The suspense is building by the moment. The other thing that is cool is that you guys can call in if you want and talk to us on the air.The number is (905)528-9888!

People who call in are suppose to pledge a buck or two but don't sweat it guys.It will be us answering the phone and it would just be great to hear from some of you live on the radio. If you can't listen to us on the radio where you live then listen on line, cause who knows what might happen.

Click Here to listen on line Thursday morning at 9:30am.

Good thing I didn't get attacked by that wolf the other day or I would have missed my first ever live to air radio spot with my pal Frankie Colorado.Turns out there hadn't been any wolves in these parts for about 50 years.I stopped into the local nature centre to ask about how big the coyotes get around here and the dude told me that there is a pack of coyotes in the area and a few of them are in fact very large! They assume the coyotes have been doing it with some large wild dogs and the offspring are becoming much larger than your average size coyote. It looked more like a wolf than a coyote if you ask me. Pretty awesome site!

As for my lost glove, well it's still missing. I even took Emma back to trace are steps from the other day but I didn't see my glove anywhere.Anyone want a left handed snowboard glove! Call me tomorrow on the radio and it's yours!

The other thing you guys know I like doing is going to the movies. On Monday night I saw Dave Chappell's new movie Blockparty! It was interesting to see how many people walked out half way into the movie. It was as soon as they figured out the movie was mostly about a rap concert Dave had put together and he wasn't screaming "I'm Rick James Bitch" every two seconds.

I thought the movie was cool.It was interesting and entertaining in the same way I hope my new series will be this summer. It was inspiring actually. You wanted to watch to see how things turned out with the concert but setting it all up,promoting it and seeing footage of Dave Chappell hitting the streets was hilarious.I liked the movie alot!

I guess I should have gotten Kevin to write this review for me....

Maybe Kev can give us his thoughts on the big live to air college radio show tomorrow morning.Looking forward to talking to some of you guys on the phone, live and on the air!! (905)528-9888 Call in guys!

In three minutes I'll be asleep...

I promised that if you guys checked out my blog today I would tell you what I thought of the new Dave Chappell movie but I also mentioned that I am a big fat liar so slide back here Wednesday guys.I'm too bagged right now to type another word.

6:15pm until 7:55 ....

Kind of an interesting night I had tonight.

I just got back from seeing "Blockparty" which is Dave Chappells new movie and before that I lost one of my favorite snowboard gloves and before that I was almost attacked by a coyote!

How about I start all this from the beginning...

6:15pm I took Emma for a walk on a trail I discovered a few months ago.

6:30pm I took my gloves off because it was warmer outside than I thought it would be.
Note: I never really wear these gloves when I'm Snowboarding anymore because I haven't been on my board the last couple years. That's a different story...

6:48pm It was getting a little dark when I saw something jet across the trail.
Note: I'm making up these times now because I have know idea what time it was when I saw what turned out to be an amazing looking and massively large coyote.

6:49pm I called Emma so that she wouldn't take off after what I thought might have been a fox at first because it moved so quick across the trail in front of us.
Note: As I was thinking damn,a fox just zipped across the trail,my brain quickly changed it's mind as I remembered what I had just seen was way too big to be a fox!

6:54pm I moved up the trail while holding Emma and looked into the woods.
Note: It was approximately the same spot this fox/bigger than a fox animal went into the woods and that's when I realized it wasn't a fox.It was almost wolf like as it sat standing tall about thirty feet into the woods and staring back at us.

6:55pm It was gone and moving fast down the ravine.
Note: If I didn't know better I would say it was a wolf because it was that big.Emma is about 65lbs and this thing looked about the same size if not bigger.I know there are coyotes around here and this was a pretty damn big one.Massive and awesome!

7:10pm While keeping Emma close by and still wondering if there is any way that could have been a wolf we just saw,my glove got hooked on a tree branch and was pulled out of my pocket.
Note: I'm assuming that's what happened to my glove because it wasn't there a few minutes later.

7:16pm I realized my glove was missing from my pocket.

7:30pm I dropped Emma off and went with Vic to the movies.

7:45pm I bought a pizza,some popcorn and a red Koolaid to drink.

7:55pm after missing all the trailers which sucks we sat down just in time to see the beginning of the movie.
Note: Stay tuned until Tuesday to find out what I thought of the movie and if I ended up finding my glove because I plan on going to look for it in the morning after I stop and visit the nature centre to ask about this wolf/coyote/too big to be a fox animal that didn't actual try and attack us at all.I just said that to make you guys keep reading plus I'm a big fat liar.

Another Kevin Robertson Review...

Hey guys,
Sounds like the Network aired "COPS" last night in Ontario and I'm hoping "don and corey were friends" aired out West so that we can get back to the regular show schedule by next weekend. It makes more sense for everyone in the Counrty to be watching the same episode every Friday night.

If you read my blog yesterday you will know that we now have an official movie critic for the new series! Kevin Robertson has been sending emails and cracking me up for a while now so I decided I should start sharing his movie reviews with you guys right here in my blog.

His review of "don and corey were friends" is in Fridays blog update and here is what Kevin had to say about "COPS" which aired last night in Ontario...

*This week's replay of "COPS" proves that this movie remains every bit as intense and electrifying as it did when it premiered, back in January. A rugged homage, to the "urban crime drama " genre; complimented by its all-star cast and breathtaking cinematography.

So this week, I re-submit my orginal review of Shane Cunningham's "COPS" ...

"COPS" is certainly the high octane, adrenaline thrill ride of the season (so far). It really shows off the gritty realism of the mean streets of Hamilton, like nothing I've ever seen before. All of those plot twists and revelations at the end were amazing. JR's character totally had me fooled; but I was so happy to see that despite all of his treachery, he still couldn't outrun the long arm of justice.

The behind the scenes footage with Hamilton's favorite son, Andrew "The Psycho Fan" was great. An excellent casting choice; he definitely owned the role.

Kevin

PS. Thanks for that warm welcome on your blog JR. I'll try not to let you down.

HILARIOUS YET INSIGHTFUL !

I'm always telling people to email me I guess because it's cool to stay connected and in touch with you guys! I use to get way more emails but I think that had more to do with the kind of show I was making and the the kind of people who use to watch the show."You rock" and "JR you kick ass" emails may have rolled in with a little more frequently back in the day but those of you who have continued or have started watching my new series, seem less inclined to email me until you actually have something to say. I'm not saying that I don't like hearing from those of you who just want to say "hey what up" because I really do like hearing from all of you guys.Kevin Robertson has sent me a few "what Up JR" kind of emails but he has also sent me some hilarious, well written and insightful emails.

As a matter of fact,I have decided to appoint Kevin as the official jrdigs.com movie critic. Here is what Kevin had to say about "Don and Corey were friends" that aired last weekend but not out West because of another screw up at the Network.

"Don & Cory Were Friends" is a celebration of "life", that deserves to be celebrated say's Kevin!

I was totally blown away by the depth and the maturity that layered this wonderfully complex, "existential odyssey". For me, one of the highlights of this micro-epic masterwork was watching the Don and Cory struggle through the external obstacles they encountered on their mission, while at the same time, *literally* wrestle with the "internal obstacles" that they felt towards one another.

I was really impressed by JR's ability to MASTER the martials arts, in preparation for his role as the sinister "Dave", in yet another standout performance.me, "Dave" represents "Satan" who tries his best to prevent Don and Cory from completing their journey, by seducing them into hanging out in his garage and "Slam Bamming" protein shakes all night. Great work by everyone!

I can't wait for this week's show. Bring on the Sex Robots!!!

Kevin
PS. I think "JR DIGS PRESENTS" is a good title for the new series.

....So kevin likes "JR DIGS PRESENTS" as the new name for this series I have been developing and his film review is awesome. It's hilarious! He totally cracks me up which is probably why I have decided he is should become are official movie critic here on jrdigs.com

Unfortunately Kevin won't be able to review the Chris Nash film "The bolts and Nuts of Hoes and Sluts" until next weekend. The Network is airing "Don and corey were friends" tonight out West because it didn't air out there last weekend as scheduled and the episode will air again on CH in Ontario on Saturday night at 12:30am in case some of you guys missed itlast weekend! Tonight in Ontario I honestly have no idea what episode the Network will air so I guess it will be a suprise for all of us that live here in Ontario.

If all goes well for a change, next week things will get back on track and you can expect to see the new Chris Nash film. After it air's on Friday night, you can also look forward to another movie review from the new jrdigs.com movie critic Kevin Robertson. Welcome to the team Kev!

Now I'm going to go watch the end of the Leaf game and maybe make some hotdogs to eat. I haven't had a hotdog in ages.It was probably the last time the leafs won a game! See ya guys, stay in touch!

I'm sure at some point I will finally snap and that will be the end of this little radio experiment but until then we are going to keep screwing around and trying all kinds of new things just for the fun of it.I think next week we are going to take some calls from listeners so be checking my blog next week for details regarding when to call in ect. It should be fun.

click here to listen to this weeks show or go to the sponsors page to hear the last few radio spots we have done over the last couple weeks on CFMU.
