Good Blog,Bad Blog!
I'm kinda hoping to spend the rest of my night here on my computor checking out some websites and returning emails. Mom if you are reading this,I'll call you later and don't stay up late to watch the 12:30am repeat of Entertainment Tonight because I wasn't on ET tonight. I heard that the interview they did with me will be on Thursday night at 7:00pm. I have always thought of my blog as a cool way to stay conected to all you guys out there but recently I am starting to realize that it is also a way for people to sort of keep tabs on me in some weird kinda , that pisses me off kinda way. Not you Mom,you aren't people, you are my Mom! Is it a bad idea to continue to be so open and honest about stuff here is my blog or can it somehow end up being a way for "people"to eventually use my own blog against me somehow? Here is an email I got the other day.... Dear JR I just read your blog. It's current, so I know you've read your emails. Even if you had said that you were too busy and that when you're in cottage mode, you don't want to do these things, or you're afraid of dissing cable companies, and that's why you couldn't do it, or maybe you could have shot a few minutes on mini DV of your opinions on "public access" cable and mailed that to me, then I could understand that, but I guess you're gonna be like all other people with network deals and just decide not to reply at all. It's not like I'm a weirdo...I do have over six years worth of mags I've produced. I also offered to do an email interview with you, and promote you for free with my mag a couple years ago (I offered to do my part as a JR fan). It's not like I'd start bugging you for the rest of my life. I just want to make ONE documentary about my mag and trying to get into TV here in Barrie. You wrote that you were also refused by your local public access channel, so I thought it would be cool to have you mention what happened. I'm surprised, as for so many years you portrayed yourself as a little with a dream, and your fans were a big deal to you, but...anyway, you're not replying, so... ...well, anyway, peace. Hang tight dude,I'm sure I will end up reading your previously sent emails tonight at some point and I will for sure bounce one back to you. It sounds like you want to do an interview or something like that with me which is awesome. You won't be hearing from my people because well.....I am my people!
Lunch with Kayvon....
I still seem to be recovering a little bit from Lunch with Kayvon on Friday afternoon. The little guy just got back from an extended trip to Europe and guess who gave him his JVC hand held camera to shoot some home movies with? In case you think anyone else is crazy enough to give Kayvon their favorite video camera, the answer is me! I gave Kayvon my camera to take with him on his trip and met him on Friday to get the camera back and ended up taking him to lunch and wishing I could have taped the entire two hours I spent with him. There is something aboout the little guy that cracks me up and you guys will be seeing alot more of Kayvon this fall like you have never seen him before. In Paris and in London England! Stay tuned for more details...... Right now,I'm off to the cottage where I plan on spending at least eight hours tonight in the bunkie looking out at the lake and catching up on some writing that I am way behind on. I have been able to stir up some interest in a movie script that I have been working on for a while now but recently haven't had time to work on. I'm looking forward to a Sunday night home cooked cottage meal a quick paddle out on the lake and then writing until I fall asleep tonight. I'll catch up with you guys later.
Big UP to Kent!
I'm off the road and back to blogging way more these days and it's cool to hear that you guys are so interested in what's going on these days in this crazy ass life of mine. It's actually very encouraging and simply knowing you guys are reading my blog definately makes me want to update and post blogs as much and as often as I can. Apparently it's not just you guys who are checking out my blog because guess what I got today? Kent from Keith's Stereo in Burlington hooked me up with a cool new SIRIUS Satelite radio for the house. How awesome is that! After reading in my last blog about how much I am lovin my S50 but have to drive around in my car forever for my Howard & Alt Nation fix, Kent called me and told me to stop by and pick up a radio for the house if I wanted one. We should do something at Kieth's Stereo some day. Maybe have a BBQ and watch old clips of me and my weinner or something. Commercial free,Dj less radio is great but I have to admit that I have a growing facination with Madison on Alt Nation. She is absolutely hilarious! She probably isn't close to being hot but who cares, she is on the radio, plus she cracks me up! If you guys have any good idea's for something we can do at Keith's Stereo some day let me know. Kent is an awesome guy and it would be cool to do something in appreciation for all the hook ups!
GETTING SERIOUS!
One of my new favorite things to do these days is listen to the radio. Well, not listen to the radio, but listen to my SIRIUS satellite radio which is entirely different than regular old radio filled with commercials and people setting up the next song or commercial which is all that ever seems to be on the radio compared to commercial free satellite radio. I find Howard Sterns radio show on satellite way funnier and more interesting than his radio show was on regular radio the last few years. I don't really think Howard Stern has changed all that much but Artie is absolutely, 100% funnier with no boundaries and a say anything mentality and the callers are ten times funnier to listen to now! The only problem is that I have to be in my car if I want to listen to The Howard Stern Show which is why my Sunday morning drive ended with a naked swim in the lake at midnight! I just wanted to listen to the radio for a bit while I had a coffee and rolled into the last day of my scheduled week off at the cottage that ended earlier in the week because I had to be in Toronto to do some press for the new series. It was a beautiful morning on Sunday and after about a half an hour of driving around,I went through the drive thru for another coffee and flipped to Alt Nation on channel 21. The tunes were awesome and it was such a nice day for a drive that before I knew it, I was on the highway and headed up north to the cottage.I felt like I needed somewhere to drive to and so why not head back up north where I was suppose to be on Sunday anyway. I knew that I had to be back here in Burlington by noon on Monday, but every time I thought about having to turn around again first thing the next morning and head back to the city, another good song would come on, so I cranked it up,took the back way up to the cottage and enjoyed a perfect Sunday morning in my car with my S50 and an extra large double double. I had a nap in the afternoon, a swim around 4:30, I went for a run at sunset, kicked back on the point to watch the sun go down and then walked back to the cottage for a nice home cooked Sunday night meal that Mom had to reheat for me because Mom and Dad don't like eating late like I usually end up doing. Mom's are great and sunsets are awesome up at the cottage. We had a nice little campfire on Sunday night and after Mom and Dad packed it in, I went for a latenight paddle out on the lake which is why I ended up naked out their at midnight. If you have never swam naked out in the middle of a perfectly still lake at midnight all by yourself, you should do it sometime. Trust me on this one. Unless of course you have someone with you to get naked with out there because that's cool to but in different kinda way.
Sunday morning drive...
I was nice hanging out with a bunch of my old friends yesterday but mostly it was great to spend some time with Wendy and her husdband Mark. They both have so much spirit and warmth that you would never know what they must be going throught these days since Wen was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Mark and Wen have a beautiful place just north of Burlington and they invited all their friends out to their place for a BBQ on Saturday. The old gang doesn't get together that much anymore so it was great to see that we all still like to laugh at eachother as much as we use to in the good old days. Wendy is a pillar of Stregth and inspiration and if any of you out there are going through anything like Wendy is or know of someone who is, please feel free to email me so that I can forward your email along to Wendy. It's unbelievable how much information there is out there that isn't necessarily being passed on to people by their doctors and Wendy would love to be able to share what she has learned with anyone it might help. I'm off right now to grab a Coffee, listen to the radio and maybe go for a bit of a drive.
SATURDAY MORNINGS!
Saturday mornings are great. At least the ones where you get to sleep in, go for a pee,go back to bed and flip on the tube and see if there are any good cartoons on Saturday mornigns any more. That's pretty much been the extent of my day so far. I had a pretty chilled out Friday night as well. My week off at the cottage was cut short by this press shit that was scheduled for me to do on Thursday and Friday in Toronto. It was cool that eTalk wanted to do something with me because sometimes the networks in this Country aren't always all that cool about doing stuff with people that are on a rival Network. I really appreciate eTalk spending some time with me Friday. I have no idea when the stuff we shot will air but when I find out,I will be sure to let you guys know. I finally got a Network deal and it's great to finally get a little attention from some of the press and media in this Country but I don't think that means my life is going to get any less retarded! Near the end of my ET interview on Thursday,I thought it would be funny to convince the ET crew to follow me out onto the street so I could show them what I will be doing on this new prime time series we have been shooting this summer. I ended up going into a fire station to talk with some firefighters to see if any of them wanted to be reality television stars because that's what I do on this new series. I ended up climbing up on the truck,I turned on the flashing lights and I was goofing off with a few of the guys in the station when a couple of the guys decided to climb up on the roof with a couple buckets of water. When I walked out of the station, they soaked me from head to toe. Now I still had a firejacket on so I barely even got wet but the ET crew got half soaked. Not only did the camera dude get soaked but his expensive camera got water all over it,lights started flashing like crazy and he was totally freaked out. I wanted to laugh and welcome him to my world but dude was really upset so I pretended to be concerned and just thought to myself,"wow,my first ET interview and dudes tape is stuck in his very expensive ET camera and somehow this will all end up getting blamed on me"! The camera ended up being ok and everything was cool but I doubt you will see any of that when the stuff they shot airs on ET next week. This afternoon I am hooking up with some friends to play a little golf and have a BBQ. I actually have to get rolling here or I will be late so I'll blog back later. Have a good weekend everyone.
Chew-chach & The GanG!
I'm up north at the cottage right now where I have been kickin back, and doing nothing but sleeping eating and swimming for the last few days since we rapped up another week of shooting "BE REAL with JR DIGS".The last episode we shot was in Niagara Falls on Saturday which was another sixteen hour day that rapped up around 1:30am Sunday morning. By the time we got back to the hotel it was around 2:00am but everyone is always so wound up after a long day of shooting that you absolutely need some time to wind down a little before you can crash. Plus it was the last night the crew would all be together for a few weeks so needless to say, I didn't get too much sleep until I got up north here to the cottage. I guess when you spend alot of time on the road with the same people, one of two things end up happening. Either you can't wait to get away from them or you end up missing being around them after you go your seperate ways and luckily for me the later is true. Most of the crew on the road working on the show are use to working on television series with lots of other people so Im sure they have no idea just how cool and unique this experience has been for me. Having over a dozen people working with me on the show is a dozen more people than I have ever had working with me at any one time. That means that for the first time in over five years, I suddenly have all kinds of help doing all kinds of things that need to be done while trying to make a Tv show! I don't know how I will ever be able to go back to doing it all with me and a couple of volunteers ever again. Everyone on the crew is awesome and if I started telling some stories about the last week of my life that I spent with them, you would know what I mean for sure. Finishing are week in Niagara Falls was cool because it was a fun place to be on are days off between shooting. Last Friday was one of the nicest chill days I have had in a long time. I'll have to get some pictures from the last week to post here in my blog and let the pictures tell the tale that I don't have the time to put into words right now. Originally I was sheduled to have this entire week off and I was hoping to spend the rest of the week up here at the cottage but now it looks as though some press shit has been set up for me later in the week. I think I'm doing ET Canada on Thursday and then eTalk on Friday plus a bunch of other interviews are being set up for me to do as well while I'm in Toronto. So it looks like I will be heading back to Burlington sometime on Wednesday. At least I got a few days off to catch up on some sleep and recharge a little. The nights up here are definaltely cooling off and it feels like the smmer has slipped away without having spent hardly any time at the cottage with my family and friends. I can't remember the last time I sat in front of a campfire with my guitar. Maybe I will do that tonight if nothin much is happening. I looks like this might be the last nigth I will spend up here for another few weeks which sucks but what are ya going to do. I'll make sure I blog back again later this week sometime.
Happy Birthday Mer!
Hey guys, I'm on the road shooting more episodes of this prime time series for Global that will be on the air this fall. Sorry that I don't have more time to catch everyone up on what has been going on but I would like to thanks everyone in Hamilton where we were shooting an episode yesterday. I love the Hammer and since I live so close by,I guess there are a few of you who have continued to love me back! It was awesome to see so many of you on the streets and to meet so many of you yesterday even if in some cases I didn't really get to meet you because you were across the street just yelling at me and I was yelling back."You guys F'n Rock Too" in case you couldn't hear what I was saying! Damn,I gotta fly guys. The crew are all out tonight celebrating Meredith's birthday. Mer is the make-up girl on the crew and she is awesome. I don't want to bail on her so I gotta get movin here and catch up to everyone. I didn't want to bail on you guys either and I haven't posted a blog in a while so I thought I would at the very least, say "hey everyone". Blog back later...
"IN THE CAN" & more spun than ever.
Hey guys, Looks like I screwed up somehow posting my last couple blogs because they aren't hear! Hmmmm I'll try to recover them and get them back on line for you guys to read but in the meantime, check out a cool little trailer for tonight's featured short film which is directed by Donnie Mullins. The trailer can be viewed on the homepage. Don't forget to check out tonight's episode because it's one of those episodes you don't want to miss if you have been a fan of the show for a few years and have grown to love some of the regulars who have appeared on the show from time to time . Especially a certain four foot nothin little guy who has literally grown up on the show over the last five years and will be making yet another unforgettable appearance tonight IN THE CAN with JR DIGS!
BACK IN THE CAN!
I think that maybe the heat of a hot summer night overheated my brain last night so I ended up going for drive,I cranked up my S50 and sang along to some tunes on the classic rewind channel. A half hour later I was feeling good and cool to get back in the edit suite where I have spent most of the day today. I have to have three new episodes of "IN THE CAN with JR DIGS" delivered by the end of this week because next week I head back on the road to shoot a bunch of new episodes for this prime time series that will be on the air this fall. I think you guys will get a kick out this Friday nights episode because it features a very special friend of mine. Ok well, he's not really a friend of mine but I can't help but love the little guy! For sure tune in this Friday night and check out the show.
what the frig is going on....
Shit man! These long long looooong ass days are starting to kill me! This Fall might represent the biggest three or four months of my life but I'm not completely sure I will be with it enough in the head by that point to even get what is happenning. Shitman,I' going crazy here right now all of a sudden. Thanks Wade, for the very cool email you sent me earlier. It was very much appreciated and reading it kept me from smashing my head into a wall a couple hours ago. I'm totally freaking out here all of a sudden.I wonder if I am actually going a little crazy in the head.
