Monday, October 30, 2006THANKS ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT!Reading the show history page here on the site doesn't come with any sappy music like you get on these entertainment shows but it will give you a more detailed account of where I came from to get to where I am now! Saturday, October 28, 2006Trick or BOO! If you were busy doing something Wednesday night like I was and you didn't watch this weeks episode of "Be Real", then you can watch it or tape it tonight like I will be doing. The show repeats every Saturday Night on TVTropolis but hopefully most of you caught the show Wednesday night because in some parts of the Country tonight, some of you will have to end up deciding to watch the repeat episode of "Be Real" that we shot in Hamilton this past summer or watch "Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow" that was shot this past week in Hamilton. Tonights Halloween Show airs as the lead in to SNL on Global in most of the Country which is the same time "Be Real" repeats on TVTropolis Saturday nights.
If I just made that way more complicated than it needs to be, check the homepage for the lowdown on when the show is on tonight where ever it is that you live and go to www.berealtv.ca for the schedule regarding "Be Real" airing Nationally on TVTropolis! If any of you live anywhere close to Oakville and happen to like 80's music and don't plan on watching any Tv tonight at all, then go check out Howard Jones tonight. Dude had a bunch of big hits in the 80's and he is playing at the Oakville Centre tonight at 8:00pm. Even Kayvon will be there! I was invited to go and was given a few tickets so I plan on going there before heading back to the Hammer for a Halloween Party tonight. It's cool to hear from a few of you guys who heard me on the radio in London this afternoon. I don't have time to email you back right now but I will. Thanks Noel,it was great talking to you on your radio show this afternoon on FM96. I appreciate you having me on to spread the word about the show! I will definitely have to get my ass down to London some Saturday night and whoop it up with you guys a little. Thursday, October 26, 2006"Andrew The Psycho Fan" Last weekend on Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow I aired some footage of "Andrew The Psycho Fan" and I mentioned that this week I would blog a bit about Andrew and how I actually met him and why he is in fact "Andrew The Psycho Fan"!
For a few years now, I have been goofin around and doin a bunch of different stuff on latenight televison. Sometimes in an effort to experiment with a new idea or concept and sometimes just to simply amuse myself. I guess that's what I was doing one week a couple years ago when I gave my home phone number out to a National television audience. I ended up hearing from all kinds of people and one of them was Andrew. He use to leave me these crazy messages and he left lots and lots of them! After a few weeks, my friends convinced me that I should probably call Andrew back and arrange to meet him somewhere so that I would at least know what he looks like in case he was following me around like some crazy stalker or something! At least that way I would know what he at least looked like. Turns out that he pretty much looked exactly like some crazy ass Charles Manson Stalking crazy guy!!!!! Click on the picture below if you want to see video of me meeting Andrew The Psycho Fan for the very first time... Andrew didn't call and leave messages as much after that day when he finally got to hook up with me and tell me a few jokes which is all he really actually wanted to do! Over the years I have even kind of stayed in touch with Andrew and to this day he has remained supportive and been one of my biggest fans! Wednesday, October 25, 2006Weird Night Tonight! I was on King Street tonight in Hamilton in front of Tony's Corners where we were shooting the show that will air this Saturday night. It was around 7:45pm when some dude walks up to me and asks me if shot a show in Hamilton tonight. I tell him that I was about to and he insist that I already shot it! Dude was kinda sketchy so I happily agreed with him and played along until I realize that he must have just watched "Be Real" on Tv and the episode we shot in Hamilton aired at 7:oopm.
I then tried explaining to him that I have two shows on the air right now and the show he watched on Tv tonight was shot this past summer. That didn't make much sense to him and he didn't really believe me. I tried explaining that the show I was about to shoot tonight is kind of a latenight talkshow although it's not quite one yet and it will be on the tube this Saturday night and he could be on Tv if he wanted to hang out for an hour or so! Then I remembered that my guest tonight was a lady who was planning on helping me communicate with my dead Grandfather on the show and all the candles and spooky music would for sure totally freak this guys out! That's when I confused the poor guy so more until he got frustarted and left!(lol)I didn't end up seeing "Be Real" tonight but I checked out the crew's blogs at www.berealtv.ca as well as the show extra's and deleted scenes posted on the site. I'll have to make a point of watching or taping "Be Real" when it airs again on Saturday night because I haven't even seen the episode yet and I remember how much fun it was this summer to be shooting an episode in Hamilton! Monday, October 23, 2006THANKS ETALK! After years of good ratings which always lead to lots of support from corporate sponsors and having a consistent and growing grass roots fan base that I have always appreciated,it's cool to see that some people in the media are suddenly becoming aware of some of what I have been doing all this time.
Click here to check out the ETalk piece that aired on Friday night as part of a segment on Reality TV! Sunday, October 15, 2006Video BlogEvery week after Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow airs on Saturday night,I'll be touching base here for a quick recap and to talk about anything and everything that happened over the entire week while I was shooting and putting the show together. Every Saturday night viewers can tune in to see how things are progressing as I attempt to construct, create, build and develope Another Crappy Canadian Latenight TalkShow! With no budget, no writters, no producers or directors, no guest, no music acts booked on the show, nobody to book any guest or music acts for the show, no studio audience, no studio, no lighting or audio experts, no camera operators and one camera I shot my first show all by myself last week. Pete at Hamilton Video and Sound gave me a JVC handheld camera to shoot my first show with in exchange for a plug on Network television so I was able to actually shoot my first episode. Without a studio and without even one volunteer to hold my camera and shoot footage for me, I walked the streets of Hamilton shooting footage of myself and people I met on the street and I was able to put together a show that was aired Nationally on CH and Global television. Oh ya, one other thing, I was walking the streets completely naked with only a hollowed out television to cover up my privates so that I wouldn't get tossed in jail or embarace myself or anything like that. See,another thing I didn't have was a clothing sponsor so I didn't even have any clothing to wear on the show. I literally started this new latenight show with nothing but the support of a few people at the network who created this opportunity for me by giving me this half hour of National Network air time on Saturday nights and one little hand held JVC camera. Each week from here on out I will be spending every last waking moment working on Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow and I'm hoping you guys not only tune in and start speading the word about the show but I hope that some of you actually get involved each week with me. Stay tuned and continue checking my blog each week as I update you guys on how things are going. This should be fun! Saturday, October 14, 2006TUNE IN TONIGHT! Hey guys, I ended up getting tonight's show re-cut and delivered just in time to be fed out Nationally to all the Global and CH stations it's scheduled to air on tonight.
It's Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow and it debues tonight so check it out! You guys are going to be a big part of this new latenight talkshow I'm going to literally be creating and developing on the air each week. I have no budget, I don't have a desk, I don't have any staff working on the show with me yet and asyou can see from this picture I have posted here, I don't even have a clothing sponsor! What I do have is a cool little JVC camera that was given to me by Pete at Hamilton Video and Sound so that I was able to shoot tonight's episode and get things rolling. Who knows what next weeks show will look like. At this point I don't even care because I barely got tonight's show delivered. I will start thinking about next weeks show on Sunday after I wake up. I'm taking the rest of the day off. I have plans to go out for dinner around six, I'll probably drink a bottle of some wine and be home in time to see if my first new show actually makes it on the air like it is suppose to! Tune in tonight with me guys. This is going to be the start of something really fun for all of us! Thursday, October 12, 2006Two things I know for sure... There is nothing like a lack of sleep and the feeling that I'm in deep and way over my head again to remind me that I'm still the same schmuck I was five years ago setting out to do whatever it was going to take to get my own latenight talkshow.
After years of independently producing television and never really feeling like any of it was as good or as interesting as I would have liked it to have been, the most important thing I have learned is that you can't possibly do everything all on your own all the time. One other thing I learned is that aspiring and talented people are harder to find than most people think! If you think you are then make sure to read my entire show history, watch my new show on Saturday night and then check back here next Tuesday if you are still interested in finding out when and where I am meeting anyone and everyone who might be interested in helping me create the Countries only latenight talkshow this fall. I'll talk more about the concept for my new latenight talkshow on Saturday. Right now I have to get some sleep! I delivered a re-cut episode for Saturday nigths broadcast a few hours ago and I'm too bagged right now to jam away on this keyboard anymore tonight. I'll bouce back here again Friday sometime. Wednesday, October 11, 2006HUMPDAY, WEEK ONE! Seven hours after I delivered my first new show to the network today, I was informed that due to the sensitive nature of two different segments in the episode, the show had been flagged and would need to be re-cut before it could go on the air this Saturday night.Turns out that "Amish Chris Rock" won't be airing this weekend in the show and I will be spending another long night re-cutting my first new show so that it will air as scheduled this Saturday night on CH and Nationally on Global television. I don't have any time to go out and re-shoot a new episode and I'm not really sure how to re-cut this episode without butchering it too bad so stay tuned and I'll let you guys know if everything turns out ok and if I get the episode delivered in time to go on the air this weekend. Tuesday, October 10, 2006Here we go again guys.... I shot my last episode of "Be Real", I spent the following week trying to take care of at least a few of the things I have had to put off doing all summer long and then I spent Thanksgiving weekend up north at the cottage with my family which was a great way to sorta rap up my week off. I drove back from the cottage first thing this morning and went straight into the production of Another crappy Canadian latenight talkshow! My first new episode is scheduled to go on the air this Saturday night.
I'm totally pumped and I think you guys are going to love the concept I have come up with for this new latenight gig I landed for myself. It looks like I might be up for most of the night working tonight to make sure I get this weekends show delivered on time. It's my first show and it has to be delivered by noon on Wednesday. I will be working on the site all this week as well so expect to see a bunch of different stuff popping up here over the next few days. Start spreading the word! Saturday, October 07, 2006Pulling out the docks! It's been a week and one day now since I've been off the road and rapped up shooting the last of 13 episodes of this new series for TvTropolis. Most of this last week was spend catching up on things that should have been done months ago and yet I still haven't unpacked my bag of cloths sitting on the floor.
Without a doubt, I was busier this past summer and so far this fall than I have ever been before and more than ever I feel like I am actually losing any ability I ever had to do anything normal any more like my laundry or making something to eat for myself instead of getting takeout! I'm heading up North to the cottage in a little bit to join the rest of my family for are annual Thanksgiving weekend at the cottage. My brother just flew in from Ireland, my sister got to the cottage around 2:00am this morning and so now my Dad is probably just waiting for me to get there so he can get the docks pulled in off the water. Mom and Dad will be heading to Florida for the winter next week sometime, my Brother is going back on some sort of World tour with his Band and although my little sister lives in the same town as me, I hardly ever see her so this weekend is a big deal for my family. I'm looking forward to getting up there to see everyone and eating some turkey and homemade stuffing just like Gradma use to make. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend everyone. Wednesday, October 04, 2006bE ReaL On TVTropolis Hey guys, I wish I had more time these days to update my blog and keep everyone up to speed with stuff but to be honest, I guess it's not that I don't actually have the time to update my blog, it's just that I really really really hate typing shit out, you guys know that right? I'm always saying how much I hate sitting in front of this computer/box/ thing here for any length of time.
When I was on the road there for a week shooting the last three episodes of "Be REal" I didn't sit in front of a computer one time. It was awesome! Being on the road was the best. I miss it a ton! There is an awesome picture of me, Chew chach and a pickle in the picture gallery at www.berealtv.ca check it out! Maybe check out the show tonight as well if you are home tonight at 7:oopm! I haven't watched myself on Tv in years but even I will be tuning in tonight. As weird as this sounds, I haven't even seen tonight's show yet and I'm curious what it will look like. I know that sounds odd but we shoot about ten hours of footage over the coarse of each day while shooting these episodes and once we are done shooting for the day, I'm done,Im out of the loop, I'm completly uninvolved in the process of turning all that footage into an actual television show. Unlike anything else I have ever done on Tv, on this new prime time series produced for TvTropolis, I don't have anything to do with the process of editing or assembling any of the footage that ends up airing on Tv each week. After five years of learning how to make low budget television, this is the first time I have ever been involved in the process of making not so low budget television. A network series like this has lots of different people involved and working on it, everyone has a job to do and mine is to show up, be sort of a host kinda dude and contribute as much as I can while we are shooting each day. It's been an interesting experience and tonight the adventure continues because I'll be right there with you guys watching the episode for the very first time just like you guys will be. Check out all the extra and uncut footage at www.berealtv.ca after the show airs tonight. The website is pretty awesome and if I'm not mistaken, outakes and random footage of the crew on the road will be posted on line each week which is definately something I will be checking out each week over the next couple months. The crew even have blogs that will be updated each week after each new episode airs as well which is more than you get here on my site some weeks from your old Pal Digs! I totally miss all those guys! |
