Q&A with Andrew the co-op student!

Earlier this week I mentioned that I would sit down with Andrew like I did last Friday afternoon and do kind of a Q&A sort of thing and start turning it into a weekly thing we do on Fridays. I quess the idea is to spend about 20 minutes or so with Andrew, talk about some stuff, post the audio on line here and keep things really simple.

The problem is that I really don't have the time right now to get this audio experiment on line today. That being said, Andrew still doesn't have a name for this yet, plus the Mic's weren't even set up or anything so it sounds crappy again like it did last Friday.

Stay tuned....I'll have the audio we just recorded posted here sometime over the next few days, I promise!

Random thoughts and questions....

Any interesting or funny video clips on You Tube I should be checking out these days!

What are you guys watching on Tv or on the internet? Is anything funny any more?

Has it all been done? Anyone know of any aspiring film makers that I should be talking to before I decide on the final four film makers to be a part of "In The Can" (Season Two) airing this summer.

I think I might go out and have a few drinks tonight. I never go out anymore! I've eaten kraft dinner three nights in a row for supper. I think I'll eat it again tonight but put tuna in it this time.

Yesterdays post.

I suppose that there are a few reasons why I posted in my blog yesterday, the email I got from Julien. For sure one of those reasons is that Julien use to post all the time on the message board we use to have here on the site and maybe it's just kinda cool for me to know that there are some people out there who have continued to stay interested over the years in what I am doing! It's very much appreciated!

It's even kind of inspiring to tell you the truth to see how involved some people have been over the years as I struggled to stay on the air, out of debt and on track to where it is that I still seem to be heading.

As for my finger Julien, I can't really let it touch anything or it kills but no more pus is coming out which I guess is good! "pus" is an awesome word! Andrew "the co-op" student read my blog last night and asked me today if I could wait until Friday afternoon to answer some of the interesting and insightful questions Julien had asked in the email I posted Monday. I agreed, so check the blog out on Friday when I am again planning to spend another half hour or so talking with Andrew "the co-op" right here on jrdigs.com like we did last Friday afternoon.

A recently recieved email.....

I remember the first time I saw your show, which was pretty much just you sitting on a couch talking to the camera, a couple of clips thrown in there, some interviews, and a little bit of everything else. Fast forward 5-6 years, and you're having lunch with Kenny Hotz. Man, I'm green with envy. I'm a big fan of Kenny Vs. Spenny, it's probably the best scripted show about human nature, it just has great insight. Anyway, I only got a chance to read your blog after you had come to Ryerson to speak, so I was pretty bummed that I missed that. And I also didn't get a chance to come sit in the audience back in February.

Anyway, I'm writing this for two reasons I guess. First being congrats on doing what you're doing. When 'In the Can' came out, I was a bit skeptical, but I have to say Teen Wolf 3 was one of the best half hours of TV I've seen in a long time. I've seen it maybe 2-3 or times already, but it always makes me laugh, hopefully Season 2 brings the same energy. . Also congrats on the bereal series...I don't get the channel, but I've been watching the previews, and it seems like a really fun show, especially for you to get to travel so much and just be part of show, instead of having to carry it on your shoulders. And finally, congrats on the crappy canadian late night talk show. It comes on at 12:30 around here (do you still pay for the airtime, by the way? I sure fucking hope not, after all this time) but I wish it were on a half hour earlier...I think it makes a big difference, but I guess it's better than the 1 AM and 1:30 AM slots you used to get huh, haha.

Secondly, I'm writing this just to see what's on your horizon. I don't know what your schedule is like or if everything is really spontaneous, but is there a chance you could be needing studio audience members in the near future? Also, are you making any other appearances in Toronto or Hamilton or anywhere really?

I'm moving away to Ottawa in the fall, so these last few months will be my last chance to get to meet you in person, as I'll be in Toronto maybe a week or two each year for the next 4-5 years.

So any radio appearances? or segments being shot or audiences required, or anything at all man? I've always regretted not meeting you. I figure I'm always walking around downtown Toronto, you figure I'd bump into you by now, but I guess you're only in Toronto every so often, and I'm hardly ever in the Hamilton/Burlington area. Anyway, keep me up to date, I'd really appreciate, it'd be awesome just to shake your hand, get an autograph and say what's up.

It's like 1 AM and I just got back from work, and I dug out these photos I had from about 4 years ago, back in highschool I would print up and post JR Digs posters on the back of washroom stalls and pretty much anywhere and everywhere else I could. I took some pictures of them, but I didn't have a scanner at the time so I never got a chance to send 'em to you. I'm finally sending it to you about 4+ years later haha (check the jpeg out). I remember I'd go into the computer lab and set all the homepages to jrdigs.com...anything for a viewer eh.

Anyway, I read about your finger, that sucks, hope you feel better soon and things keep pushing along. I'm guessing this spring will be really busy for you so best of luck with the show(s) and hopefully I'll run into you sometime.

The New Andrew

It's good to know that when I'm not kickin' it here on the computer, and updating my blog as much as I should, the guys on the crew around here are still giving you guys a reason to come to the site each day. I notice Stephen has been updating the Crew Blog a lot this past week, with some video for you guys to check out. None of us around here have seen or heard from Andrew the Psycho Fan in weeks, so I guess Stephen thought it might be interesting for you guys to check out some video shot on the day I first met Andrew the Psycho Fan.

Andrew the Co-Op student has got his own little blog thing happening on the JR DIGS Myspace page, which is something he has been assigned to monitor and promote to all you Myspace people. Andrew's most recent project is something that you guys can check out every Friday from now on. Here it is!

Feeling better... except for the pus

Hey Guys, I'm feeling a lot better, except for the pus coming out of my finger. Actually, if you want to see the pus coming out of my finger, Andrew the Co-Op student was walking around here with a video camera yesterday, and posted it on the JR DIGS Myspace page that he is running for us. If you have a Myspace account, go say Hi to Andrew, on myspace.com/jrdigs because I told him that if he didn't find anymore friends on Myspace, I was going to give him a bad report this week.

Speaking of friends, if any of you guys are into this Facebook crap, maybe you should become my friend on Facebook. One of my Facebook friends named Joy has even created a
fan group on Facebook. I posted on her wall today. I mostly talked about the pus coming out of my finger. You can read more about the pus coming out of my finger at the JR Digs Show group on Facebook.

The inevitable melt down of my brain...

I never get headaches, not ever, but on Saturday afternoon I started getting this throbbing pressure in my tiny little brain! Within hours I was feeling brutal and I literally spent the rest of the weekend on the couch and in bed sleeping.

I'm usually a pretty big suck when I'm feeling sick but by Sunday evening I had myself pretty much convinced that the stress and pressure I have kinda been putting on myself these past bunch of years had finally caught up to me. The melt down had begun!!!!!!!

The good news is that I was able to watched every single basketball game this past week. March Madness started last Thursday night.

The sleeping, the headaches and the soup eating carried on all day Monday and the only good thing about that was that was able to watch most of Season One of BattleStar Galactica on dvd. Howard Stern always talks about how awesome this series is and I have never bothered to watch it. I love it!

Tuesday afternoon around 2:30pm I finally took the housecoat off. Looks like I might actually make it out of the house on Wedesday. Its crazy how much I slept these past four days. I still don't remember any of the dreams I have though, I never do, I never have. I think I might be dead inside!

Last Night @ Ryerson University

Sorry for being so out of touch lately guys. Thanks again to the folks at Ryerson who invited me back again last night to speak for a couple hours about my experiences over the last five years in the television industry ect. I was shocked to see so many students there in the lecture hall last night and even though that was the first time I have ever done anything like that, I ended up feeling pretty comfortable and I had a great time.

I'll probbaly be interested in doing that kind of thing again sometime. I tend not to think too much about these past bunch of years and everything I have had to experience to get to where I am now because for the most part, I find it more productive and inspiring not to dwell too much on the negative shit in life but having to talk in front of people about stuff last light like I did, pretty much forces you to think about stuff and put it all in perspective I guess. It was an interesting experience!

Today is another new day and I have tons of shit to get back to working on so there is no time to get all reflective about life or anything like that but like I mentioned, I kind of enjoyed myself last night and would probably do it again sometime.

Great meeting all you guys last night and thanks for the emails.

Lots of Laughs with Kenny Hotz!

Cool to hear that you guys thought Jeff McEnery was a funny and interesting guest on the show last night. Yesterday while hanging out and having a bite to eat with Kenny Hotz from "Kenny vs Spenny" I talked to him about coming on the show because I think he would be hilarious on the show as a guest. Kenny and I spent yesterday afternoon together along with the writers of "Little Mosque on the Prairie", writers of "The Mercer Report", cast from "The Trailer Park Boys","Rent a Golie",Mary Walsh, Robin Duke and many others who were all in Toronto taking part in Ryerson University/CTVglobemedia's annual writers conference.

I was honoured and actually even a little suprised a month or so ago to be asked to attend yesterdays conference yet alone to take part not only as a panalist but also as a Moderator for one of the panel disscussions. I had a great time and I would like to thank Michael Coutanche and the folks at Ryerson for considering me. Maybe if someone from the conference sends me a some video that was shot, I can post it here in my blog this week for you guys to check out. I am looking forward to going back to Ryerson later this month again to meet and talk with students and talk more about the last six years of my life in pursuit of a network deal here in Canada as well as SEASON TWO of "IN THE CAN with JR DIGS" that is going into production this spring and will be on the air later this summer. I even talked a bit with Kenny about maybe making a short film for the series. How cool would that be!

Lots more to check you guys up on and no time to do it so stay tuned and continue checking out the crew blog for the lowdown on what might be happening around here these days.
