Two days and Thirty two hours later...

Photos by Carly Brenner

Aspiring and unknown film maker Micheal Dawson totally impressed me over the weekend while shooting his short film for the upcoming season of "IN THE CAN with JR DIGS" that goes on the air in a couple weeks! After considering tons and tons of submissions for season two and looking at dozens of short films on line from the thousands of shorts Steve searched out over the internet in hopes that I could find the right bunch of film makers to work with this summer, I know for sure now that Mike was a great choice.

Although he is a first time director, the cast and crew he assembled this past weekend was awesome. Two days before we began shooting on Saturday morning, he didn't have a location nailed down yet but ended up in two luxury suites in a swanky down town Toronto hotel.

I don't want to give too much away with regards to a couple of the curvballs I tossed at him over the weekend while shooting, because it might ruin the fun of watching the episode. Lets just say that he absolutely proved this past weekend that he is a great director and film maker and I hope all the film makers that have been chosen to be a part of the series this summer put as much into making their short film as he did!

Looking forward to making another short film again next weekend!

And a Long, long, long weekend it was....

Tacked on a few extra days to last weekends long weekend up at the cottage because I knew that it was going to be the last weekend in quite a while before I get a chance to get up to the cottage again. This weekend and every weekend over the next couple months I am scheduled to be shooting short films with a new crop of aspiring and unknown film makers who were all chosen to be a part of a brand new season of "IN THE CAN with JR DIGS" that goes on the air in a few weeks.

There was no scheduled live taping for "Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow" this week but it sounds like a few of you guys showed up thinking there was. Sorry about that guys, I hope you aren't too bummed about that! Over the next three months we will be continueing to shoot shows at The Legendary Red Rooster Vintage Cafe but it won't be every Tuesday. Some very cool people are starting to agree to come on the show as guest so what we will be doing all summer long is sending out event invitations on facebook a few days in advance of the shows. I'll probably blog about it here as well in case some of you aren't into the facebook thing.

I like blogging about stuff that I know you guys might be interested in but with respects to my little latenight talkshow experiment, unfortunately, I have been asked not to talk too much about a couple of very very very cool meetings I had resently regarding the future of the show. It seems as though big things are on the horizon for "Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow"! Its all very exciting for me and I can't wait to fill you guys in but for now, I need the play it smart, shut up and try not to screw myself out of an opportunity to turn the show into everything I always wanted it to be!

All the shows we will be taping this summer from this point forward will air in the fall and that's all I can really tell you. Oh and it looks like Mike Bullard has changed his mind and agreed to come on the show as a guest now. It's going to be awesome!!! I hope to see you guys there when we tape that show for sure.

On Saturday night all you "Huricane Andy" fans should absolutely tune in and then next Saturday night we will be airing one last Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow until the fall. It's not the last you will see of all the regulars on Tv for the next three months though. On June 9th a brand new season of "IN THE CAN with JR DIGS" goes on the air and you can expect to see one of the regulars in each and every short film being featured as part of the series every week.

Call time for me and my crew on Saturday morning is 8:00am and I'm taking one of the regulars with me this weekend and casting them in the film. As of right now, the film maker isn't even aware of this little suprise so it should make things interesting.

I'm so pumped to start shooting these short films and I really hope you guys stick with me as I switch gears into a new series for the summer. I think this series is exactly the kind of show to be on the tube late on a Saturday night in the summer time. Last summer when I aired season one, ratings ended up being suprisingly good and although most of the episodes were not really as good as I would have liked them to be, I learned alot about how to make the show better. This time around, I've got a pretty good handle on how to make these episodes way more interesting and fun to watch.

So have a good weekend everyone. I'll be busy making of the regulars a movie star!

Good news for the long weekend....

Photos by Loreto Mancini
Looks like we may have found two new regulars for the show!

After meeting "Lady Di" who had come to the show we taped featuring Ed The Sock and Liana K as are guest a few weeks ago, I knew almost instantly that this big haired, big breasted beauty would fit right in as a regular on the show. So I invited her to come back on the show to meet "the incredible Boris" to see if he could hypnotize her along with a bunch of the other regulars.

More good news....Kayvon ended up getting hypnotized which was awesome and you guys can see what happened when you watch the show on Saturday night.

Even more good news...."Lady Di" wasn't the only person who had been at a previous taping to show up again. Turns out that the dude who ended up shooting the couch-cam at that show we shot with ED The Sock is a wicked guitar player, a biker and when he showed up for this last show we taped, he was pretty pumped about haning out on the set with us again. Looks like we may have met yet another new regular and we call him "biker Greg"!

More good news...we got "Andrew the psyho fan" to come back on the show again as well. Having all these regulars on the show with me now is hilarious.I think you guys will like the show on Saturday night.

I'm heading back up to the cottage sometime on Saturday afternoon and after this past week, I'm really looking forward to not having any computors around me for a couple days.

Have a great long weekend everyone!

Feeling a little P-Oed these day.....

You'd be choked too, if for the second time in 5 months your hard drive crashed on you, but this time all my friggin email and a bunch of other crap isn't going to be retrievable.
I'd love to catch you guys up on what's been going on this week, but I gotta get back to plunging that rusty dull knife back into my heart another fifty-thousand times.

Life sucks sometimes. Your pal, JR!

Neverending White Lights "Angels & Saints"

Look forward to seeing lots of cool up and coming bands performing on the show over the next few months. I guess the word is kinda spreading through out the music community in Canada about my little show because we are getting contacted by lots of bands and management type people of some of the bigger bands these days.

Expect to see mostly bands that you may not have even heard that much about to be performing on the show. It's cool to know that some pretty big and well known bands are interested in performing on the show but I think that showcasing lesser known bands just somehow fits the show better.

Up north & on the tube...

It was a fun little show we shot that is on the tube tonight featuring (The Never Ending White Lights) as are musical guest and Morgan Waters from the show (Screwed Over)on Much music.

Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow is really starting to shape up into an actual Latenight talkshow these days which is very cool for me. Sure we have no budget or staff like most shows do but maybe that's what makes it interesting. On all the CH stations for example, you may have watched the half hour talkshow that airs right before are show each week. It's a FOX produced latenight show with Spike Feresten and because it airs on Saturday nights and it's a half hour talkshow, it's maybe kinda interesting to compare and see how we are stacking up to a latenight half hour talkshow that has a budget, network suport and the occasional bigtime celebrity guest!

Later this summer we actually have some pretty cool guest lined up to appear on the show as well but my general rule of thumb is that I would rather have some one armed plumber on the show as a guest than some laim ass, half assed celebrity or television personality who isn't going to be stupidly entertaining and only wants to talk about their non existent carreer or movie project!!!! Boring!

Isn't Morgan Waters just some laim ass Canadian television personality you might saying to yourself right now. Well ya, for sure he is, but he knows he is which is why I knew he would be fun to have on the show as a guest. He was a great guest for the show, trust me. Better yet, watch the show tonight and see for yourself. We had a great time, we kinda ripped on some people and just got stupid for the most part. It was fun, I look forward to doing a bunch of video shorts with Morgan this summer for the show and if you guys have any suggestions for guest we should try and get on the show, make sure to let me know.

I'm heading up North to the cottage right now for the rest of the weekend. It's Mothers day on Sunday and Mom is at the cottage so that's where I will be. Working on a bunch of stuff that my Dad has planned for me no doubt. That's ok, I love being up at the cottage.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Fun times on Tuesday night!

Photos by Loreto Mancini
Taping new shoes every Tuesday night now has been a riot. More fun than I've had in years. Starting last Tuesday, each and every Tuesday and Thursday night until the fall, on CH at 1:30am, you guys can catch up on some of the earlier episodes of Another Crappy Canadian Late Night Talk Show.

Before we started shooting at The Legendary Red Rooster Vintage Cafe, we shot some shows at the Staircase Theatre in Hamilton. We eventually got kicked out of the Staircase Theatre, which is what led us to the Red Rooster, where we are now. Tonight's episode on CH is the very first episode we ever shot at the Staircase Theatre.

Keep spreading the word about the show, guys. It's very much appreciated! Without any real network support or promotion of Another Crappy Canadian Late Night Talk Show, the only way for anyone to even find out it's on the air is through word of mouth, which means you guys spreading the word.

Gotta get back to work now. Later!

Who wants more Diana?

She came to the live taping of the show that aired last Saturday night but I'm sure she didn't expect to be part of the show! Ya just gotta love the giant hair on this woman and she has an even bigger personality! I have invited her to come to the live taping again tonight so I'm hoping she shows up to get hypnotized by tonights quest.

Hope to see some of you guys there tonight as well. Be at The Legendary Red Rooster Vintage Cafe by 7:00pm if you want good seats for the show. I'm sure it will be another crazy one.

All the regulars will be there!

Back to the bunkie...

Spent the last couple of days up north at the cottage. It was awesome! Very relaxing. My folks came back from Florida two weeks ago and my Dad went straight up to the cottage to turn the water on and open the cottage and stuff while my Mom stayed down here. I drove her up north on the weekend and then spent these last couple days helping my Dad out at the cottage and kicking back as much as possible.

My mom actually came to The Red Rooster the night we were taping the show a couple weeks ago. I just checked out the crew blog and it looks like Aaron even posted a bit of video with my Mom in it from that night.

It looks like Steve also posted some video on You Tube from that show featuring Jupitor One who were the music act on that show. This is a really cool band from NYC that you guys should check out if you ever get the chance. If you didn't get to see their performance on the show, for sure go to the crew blog and have a look and listen. Ps:Vince who is doing all the sound and audio mix's for the bands who will be performing on the show each week is doing an amazing job.

Thanks Vince!!! Jupitor One sounded great live! When this band breaks huge in the US, make sure to remember that you heard them first on "Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow" everybody!!!!

Tonight on the tube.....

Photos by Loreto Mancini
It's hard to believe that almost six years have passed since I first met Ed The Sock who along with Liana K are appearing as the guest on tonights show. Ed was my very first guest on my very first show ever on television in June of 2001!

It's been a ridiculous and mostly regrettable five years and a bunch of months since then and you can read all about it on my show history page if you want. I hate even thinking about it to be honest so there is no way I'm going to get all reflective and shit here all of a sudden! Check out these pics from that first show back in 2001.....

It's just cool to know that all these years later, I'm still kicking around and plugging away at making "Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow" which has always what I have ever really wanted to do.

Sure it would be great if I had the kind of budget that most other shows have that you see on television but that being considered, I think we are starting to do a pretty good job without a budget or any real network support. I'm almost even half pumped about encouraging you guys to watch the show tonight which is cool.

Hope everyone likes tonights show and I look forward to reading your coments about the episode on facebook! Have a great weekend everyone.

Insert cock joke here

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but sometimes they can leave you speechless...

For those of you who couldn't make it to the taping on Tuesday night, here are a few candid shots of Kayvon half naked while we were shooting the show on Tuesday night. Have a close look so you can have the same nightmares I have been having the last couple nights. Those of us that were there shouldn't have to be the only ones who have to suffer through these images now etched into are brains probably for the rest of are lives!!!!!!

For more soothing visuals of Tuesday nights romp at the Red Rooster, check out the galary of pics posted on my facebook page!

As most of you know, most of the people who contribute to the production of this little show I put on the air each week are volunteers. People like Dave, Scott and Justin all help out each week for no other reason than they can see what I am still trying to do and they want to help me try and get this show to the place I want to take it to. A few weeks back I met a guy named Loreto Mancini. He seemed interested in what I have been doing and said he would also like to maybe help out if he could.

Loreto is a photographer! Its amazing to be able to post photo gallerys with so many incredible pictures all taken by Loreto while we have been shooting these last couple of shows. It's an amazing way for me to be able to let you guys see what we have been up to lately. Loreto has a gift without a doubt and I appreciate very much that he has been so willing to share it with us.

Thanks Loreto!

Way way way too tired.....

Awesome fun last night. Frig, I'm so bagged right now that I can't think straight!!!

Do I have to say everything that I say here on my site over again on my facebook page? Is myspace dead? I never go to the www.jrdigs.com myspace page. Not ever!

I'm so whipped out right now that I have to go to bed. I have so much work to do but I just can't function. I work way too much for a guy who really is kinda lazy!

I gotta go watch tv and crash!

Why is Andrew "The Psycho Fan" so blissfully blind and unaware, yet so incredibly happy today?

It must be because although we usually try and keep Andrew as much in the dark about stuff as possible, we just had to tell him about the cool news we just got regarding additional timeslots for Another Crappy Canadian Latenight talkshow on CH!

Beginning tonight at 1:30am and for every Tuesday and Thursday night at 1:30am until the fall on CH, you will now be able to see the show that until now has only aired on Saturday nights when alot of you guys go out!

Tonigth at 1:30am on CH, we will be airing the very first episode of Another Crappy Canadian Latenight Talkshow back when all I had was my little JVC camera. I had no volunteers yet, no mic's, no lights, no guest or music acts! No place to shoot the show and no clothing sponsor which expains why I am naked in tonights episode and wearing only a little black&White Tv to cover up my privates!!!!!?????

Looking forward to seeing some of you guys at the taping tonight while the rest of you will be seeing lots of me on the tube at 1:30am on CH!!!(lol)
